Hey everyone. I had become sick of the lack of OC'ing with my 754-pin Newcastle 3200+ (highest it ever got was 2.42Ghz), so I saved up and got an Athlon 64 x2 3800+ with a DFI Lanparty UT NF4-D motherboard. At stock settings this machine absolutely crushed my old one.
Of course, I never intended on keeping it stock, so I set up the Zalman 7000B-Cu I had, and got it to 2.6Ghz stable with 1.55v (260x10, DDR333 RAM divider resulting in DDR433 2-2-7-2 @ 2.8v). It was only Prime95 stable for 45 minutes, but it would run 2 instances of F@H with NO problem. I gamed with it, and everything without a single crash.
After a while, I realized that I was going to burn this proc out quickly (full load was ~52 degrees C), so I broke down and picked up a Zalman 9500. HUGE difference. It now sits at 39 degrees C full load!
After all of this, I got my OCZ PC4800 Elite Edition back from RMA, and cranked up the HTT. 290x9 is my current OC, and it is blazing fast. However, taking the HTT just 4Mhz higher results in instability. I want to be able to run my RAM at it's rated speed of DDR600 (300x9), but I just can't run ~1.7 volts (too hot!).
What would you all recommend for me to do? Hell, it's already freaking fast @ 2.61, but it sounds so much better to say 2.7. :D
