I going to do the moddz..and are absolutly clear about how to do it...BUT. W
hat ohmage would be safe to set the VR to in order to get aproxymatly 1.95v...wont go any higher than 1.95 due to air cooling.

imo 1.95v is way to much for aircooling to handle
1.6 would be more reasonable, especially if its the stock cooler.

Thnx for the input...but I was talking about the Memorypart of the modd.

I know that 1.6 will be fine with air on the gpu.

But will 1.95 work on the MEMORY of the radeon...and if so what would be the aproximatly ohmage to get there..??

oh ok. Well, im almost positive that the memory on the r9700p is set at about 2.75v default. I put a 20k trimmer on mine and raised it to 2.98-2.99. i think it was set right around 19k for that. I had no cooling on mine at the time.

Thnx m8...this was just what I was lookng for.

Really apreciate it..!!!!

Another question came up in my head...about the wattage of the VR...is there any reason why most people use 1/4w VR..??...could mabye a 1/2w or 3/4w be used instead....if there isn´t any 1/4 around..??

hey where do you measure the Vmem voltage?

I have seen a couple of pics on where to measure the volts...but these are the ones that I´m gonna use.

sorry for the delayed reply. Honestly I dont thik it matters about the wattage rating for the VR. I just went to radioshack and bought a 20k trimmer. The current running through the board is low enough that it doesnt matter. Having a variable resistor with a higher wattage rating such as 1/2w cant hurt.

OK....thnx

Ordered the VR:s....don´t have any off those in town.
So now I´ll just haffta wait for the VR and my water rigg to get finished...then I´m gonna sqeeze the living **** out of this puppy :D :D :D

I have a Saphire 9500 converted to 9700 with 3.3 infineon mem chips. I was wondering which spot is really the Vmem. I have been seeing different places to measure it , and tried reading both places and get quite different readings ( 2.5v and 2.85v).
Would like to know which is correct before doing any mods.
The pic in this thread gives me 2.5v.

hmmm...strange.

Well to me it sounds more accurate with 2.85 then 2.5.....2.85 is what most people are getting.

well that's what I thought also but my mem seems to top out at 308 (310 start getting a few artifacts in 3dmark) which seems low for 3.3 ram so I wondering if the 2.5v is correct and it's being undervolted.
The board is rev3.

I hope there is more than one place for the vgpu mesurement to be taken from or maybe u mixed them up. Here is "a" 100% correct way to do it. Its the red and black wires.

EDIT: Disregard that resisor soldered with the two black wires. That is what happens when u knock of resistors or what not with hot soldering irons.

i think the pic u posted is of a 9500 card. the 9700's i have seen and have don't have the plastic pins on the metal plates!

It doesnt really matter which one it is....just try them all like I do till u find the right one :D

I have found the usual one for the vgpu but havnt mastered finding the vmem one yet, but its near the vgpu..:)

U wont kill ure board by touching each measuring point guys so just test tem all out down there near the plate ;)

ps in the pic in the post above mine, i use the top gpu one to measure and im sure its the bottom one for the vmem, maybe the top, but yes its one of them iirc :)

The one by the SC1175 is gpu Vcore and VDDQ basically in/out buffer volts. The one by ISL6522 is VDD and Vref . VDD is the one you're looking for.
