I just got my G.Skill 2x1GB 2GBHX set of memory in the mail today, and unlike the ZX, this stuff works with my board without screwing up the video card (long story). I have searched these forums and I have found that they should do 250HTT with 2.5-3-2-5 timings, however I cant get them to do 250HTT with any timings. I am using the 702-1 BIOS. What heppens if I try to do 250HTT is the computer will just restart where it would normally say verrifying dmi pool data etc... I am guessing I just got a bad overclocker, but as always, I have a very small amount of hope that with the help of the people on these forums I might be able to do it. Please assist me.

sign? do you mean sig? yes my sig is 100% up to date. I have also tried 3-3-2-5 timings and still no go. it will post at 250 but it will not boot. My HTT is 278x9, and I had the ram ratio at 9:10, which gives me 250, and that didn't work, so I also tried setting the htt to 250 and the ratio to 1:1 and it still didn't work. right now I have it working stable at 278x9 5:6. (227mhz). Is there any way I could get it stable at 250? Oh ya, I am using 2.8v for the DRAM.

yeah i meant sig, anyways
how high does your HX do? and timeing? maybe i can work from there

well right now it's only doing 227, because thats the highest stable ratio (5:6). It won't even boot on the next highest, 9:10. Right now I will try seeing how high I can get it using 1:1.

please try 1:1 and i will ask to move ur thread to g.skill sub.sec.

I now have hope that 250HTT is within reach... I got it up to 245HTT prime stable. At 250, it would just freeze and restart at the part where it says verifying dmi pool data, at 249, it would start to load windows, and then BSOD. At 248 windows loaded...kinda, then it crashed saying a process thread required to run windows exited or crashed, at 247 it failed prime, at 246 it also failed prime, but it seems to be stable at 245. This gives me hope that 250 is withing reach with some tweaking, but I don't know what I should do. :confused:

may i have more detail on all kinds setting! i think DDR500 will run!!!!!
and @ 245 is CL2.5?

peace

Yes my current settings are in my sig. It is running at 2.5-3-2-5-1T @ 2.8v. The Drive strength is level 7 and the data drive strength is level 3. The max async latency is 7ns and the read preamble time is 5ns.

umm ok can anybody please help me, I have made sme small progress, but nothing much. I got it to run at 250mhz with 3-4-4-8 timings prime stable, and I was able to tighten the timings to 3-3-2-0 (yes, tras 0) prime stable, but it still wont run at 278x9 with a divider of 9:10 but I really am confused about that because a 9:10 divider at 278htt would be exactly 250HTT! Please help me, the RAM is bottlenecking my CPU, which can run at 2.5GHz but I am forced to run it at 2.25GHz.

Ok, I am desperate here! I am able to run the RAM at 278HTT with a 5:6 divider, (227MHz), with 2.5-3-2-5 timings, but I am still unable to run it at a 9:10 divider, which would be exactly 250HTT, even when I use 3-4-4-9-2T timings! But I am able to run it at 250HTT 1:1 with 3-3-2-0-1T timings! What is going on here? Please somebody help me, this is driving me crazy!

EDIT;
Don't know if this helps any, but here are all my settings that I am using, and my sig is up to date:

MHz= 05/06
CPC= Enable
Tcl= 2.5
Trcd= 3
Tras= 5
Trp= 2
Trc= 7
Trfc= 13
Trrd= 2
Twr= 2
Twtr= 1
Trwt= 3
Tref= 3120
Twcl= 1
DRAM Bank Interleave= Enable

DQS Skew Control= Auto
DQS Skew Value= 0
DRAM Drive Strength= Level 7
DRAM Data Drive Strength= Level 3
Max Async Latency= 7ns
DRAM Response Time= Normal
Read Preamble Time= 5ns
IdleCycle Limit= 256 Cycles
Dynamic Counter= Enable
R/W Bypass= 16x
Bypass Max= 7x
32 Byte Granularity= Disable(4 bursts)

Please, help me.

Also, just for the heck of it, I tried running the PC at 313HTT * 8 with the RAM at 5:6, no go. And I tried running it at 295HTT * 8.5 with the RAM at 5:6, and still no go. It really makes me mad that the ram will do 250HTT 1:1 but it won't do it on a 9:10 divider with 278HTT * 9.

Set Tref to AUTO.

Set Tras to ZERO

Are you running Memtest here or just booting and Priming?

Run Memtest test 5 and 8.

ANd post a Screenshot of a64 tweaker

What slots are they in Oragne or Yellow?

Mind does 255+ at 2.5-3-2-0

I'm booting and priming, I don't have A64 tweaker. I have them in the orange slots because I read somewhere that yellow is only good for BH-5. I will try your suggestions and post back results.

EDIT:
Ok, with Tras 0 and Tref Auto, and HTT 278 and divider 9:10, I get the exact same thing I always do when I try it. Right before it would say verifying dmi pool data, the computer restarts. this is before it would run memtest, so I have no way of doing that. The RAM WILL do 250HTT 1:1 with 3-3-2-0-1T timings (not 2.5-3-2-0), but it won't do 278 HTT 9:10, which I find very strange because that comes out to 250MHz for the memory. Also, I downloaded A64 tweaker, here is a screenshot:

Heres mine... Keep inmind I'm on a DFI CF-DR Board with this ram so my results are not necessarily going to translate to yours.... But its a place to start....

166/15.6 Tref is going to Translate to 0648

What voltage are you using for them?

I love you I love you I love you!!! it worked!!! only thing was I had to set cas latency to 3.0 because the computer kept freezing up at 2.5 but still, I love you dude!!

2.7v is what I'm running....

Post another A64Tweaker.... Is CAS the only thing you changed from my settings?

You might want to try the 704 BTA bios on DFI-Street.....

G.Skill Tech: Any time you want to send me free Ram for helping out here go right ahead! :)

Yep cas is the only thing I changed, dual priming right now, everything looks good. I might try that 704-2BTA bios, that was the bios I used to have, but the gs.technician told me I should use the 702-1 bios.

very nice to see everyone helping each other when I on the 4days break :)

@ 003 is everything works fine now?

@ Impaqt heee nice try :) but really thank you for all the help!!

ya it's fine except I am unable to do 2.5 cas, i also can't do it at 250 1:1. I thought this is susposed to be doing DDR500 with 2.5 cas, do I have something configured wrong?

Its rated at PC3200. ANything more than DDR400 is a bonus. The fact that most people are getting DDR500 is academic. If its doing its rated speed at rated timings, then its not broke.

Luck of the draw dude.

You are going to find it difficult to do 1:1 with any of the A64/Opt cpus that have 1MB of cache. The 1GB sticks tend to be very hard on the mem controllers. If you run a divider you stand a better chance of achieving your goals.

@003 I was having the same problem. I switched the ram from the yellow slots to the orange and running 252.
