I just want the best sound card I can get for these head phones that won't completely kill game performance. I would say gaming is 60%: 40% music in terms of whats more important to me. I was looking at the xfi but read reviews on new egg saying don't get it if your a gamer, I only have a x800xl so FPS is already an issue. thanks for any advice.

It all depends on how much you like to play with drivers...

X-Fi music ;) for solely music listening I used the audiophile grade EMU 0404 but these X-Fi sound just as good in music but much better in gaming. if you're serious about sound quality then stay FAR away from any onboard sound. I'm doing 50/50 game and music....the X-Fi works perfectly well, get one from your local BestBuy or computer store, if you don't like it....take it back and get your money back, but my bet is....you'll be keeping it for a long time.
