I desparatly need a new HD because mine is an old beater 4200 RPM 1MB Cache.
While looking at some poteitial canidates, I came across two HD's both made by Westren Digital.

One is a 10,000 RPM with 8MB Cache
the other is a 7,200 RPM with 16MB Cache.
both use SATA150.

The question is, which one would give me more performance?

Thanks in advance.

10krpm w/ 8mb cache.

soon however, theyll be releasing a new western digital drive that is 147gb, 16mb cache, sataII, 10k rpm, but if you desperately need.. then get the raptor

10k rpm definately because access rate makes so much difference it easily outweighs the 16 mb cache. I would suggest waiting for the new raptor as the news were released a LONG time ago and we havent heard anything since.
