kd7e probs with soundcard??

well got me a kd7e today and damn the soundcard wont install!!
Its a herculess gamesurround fortissimo 2 i tried every pci even number 1 and it always hangs up if i want to play a sound..whats that?? please help me all you kd7e owners.

I got a KD7-E the other day too and a Hercules GameSurround Fortissimo 3 7.1 and I have no problems with it at all. I have the soundcard in the 3rd PCI slot and my Promise Raid card running in the 4th and no problems as of yet. Running at 200fsb for 3 days straight with Prime95 and F@H running in the background.

Have you tried updating your drivers?

yes its the mobo i reinstalled my 8k3a+ and the soundcard runs..hmm ive give it back and take another abit kd7e from them :D

Too bad about the board, the first KD7-E I got was bad as well. The second one seems too be a keeper! :D

well got it workin ... it was the gameport of the sound card i dont know why the abit mobo has some probs with that but after i disabled it the sound worked and still does :D

When you swapped in the KD7-E did you do a fresh install of the OS? This sounds a lot like a resource allocation problem.

yes i formatted the hd and putted a fresh w2k installation up :D
