Looking to upgrade to 2x1GB modules, not 100% sure which ones to get.
Leaning more towards OCZ PC4000 EB PLATs.
Though there has been quite few posts that over 270Mhz or so...you get problems in 3D? Is that with all 2x1GB Modules as its to do with Mem controller?

Be running it on:
Asus A8N-SLI Preimum
Opetron 148
etc...

Suggestions would be great...

Thanks

Crucial ballistix PC4000
Any reason why they are better than OCZ?

because it do 3-3-3-8 T1 at DDR 500 and OCZ can't

What do you mean?

OCZ EBs do 3-3-2-7/8 1T DDR500

I dont think its the ram fault that it was run in 2T above certain Mhz as the Asus Deluxe version had a problem reaching high HTT 1:1 in 1T, hence for the Premium.

From what ive seen and the feedback i received from OCZ 1T is not a problem, plus @ddr500 the EBs are gurranteed to run 1T.

Both kits are nice...i have looked into Crucial, they both o/c nicely, though there is a problem overclocking past 275-280Mhz 1:1 in 3D due to the memeory controller with 2Gb kits, well thats what have been said on few forums.

Yep very true...though like mentioned above there is a problem in 3d with such high clocks.

Ive never owned Crucial before, hows the customer service when it comes to rma and etc...
I know OCZ is great...had to rma 2 kits and didnt have any problems.

Crucial isn't as easy but it is worth it...If you want Uber Friendly you will not go as far in your overclock

I would go with either the OCZ or Ballistix...I ended up buying the z503's myself and NO regrets at all. I can do 254 at 2.5-3-3-7 2.8v

I also own OCZ PC4000GER2, very nice ram, although they seem to top out at 262FSB, still at 2.5-3-3-7 2.85v

if you want higher clock, then NOTHING can touch the Ballistix, as mentioned above you need the memory tweaking skill plus a very good memory controller to get the most out of them in order to hit 300htt. But if all you want is 'plug-n-play' without much tweaking and all you need is 250~260htt...then OCZ will do it.
