Has anyone been successful with the A7N8X Deluxe vmod using the Radio Shack SMD Grabbers?

The ones from Radio Shack have the U-clip, not the two prongs. I bought the Radio Shack kind and it seems that it might be a very tight fit, if at all.

I didn't try to clip it on yet because I have to take my SLK-800 off to make room to maneuver in that tight spot. I wanted to see if anybody had some success before I removed the heatsink.

All responses will be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!

I have some of those too, didn't use them yet, I used the Pomona Grabbers with the 2 prongs and it works well for the VCORE and the Mem. I 'think' it would work with the Vcore as the pins are fairly big, I know it won't work with the VDIMM, those pins are VERY small, I had a hard time with the Smaller Pomona's. Only way to tell is to try...

I have the non deluxe and it work, also make sure you glue the smd grabber so it don't move and mesh things up, I'm have both types and radio shack's are not as good and as easy to put on and off;)

I have tried to do 2 vmods with radioshack grabbers and couldnt get either on. I now have some SMD grabbers and they work perfect.

How do you check how much voltage your pumping in your vcore after the vmod? Will the bios show the increased voltage?

Finally found a couple local stores that carry Pomona grabbers. Before I start the vmod, I just wanna clear a couple of things. If I use a 50k VR, would that be enough to reach 2v if my current max is 1.85? Also I dont really wanna go over 3v for my memory so is a 50K vr do? Thanks....

The 50k variable resistor should get you to about 2.1-2.2v.

As for the vmem mod, I am not sure. I didn't do that one. I'm sure someone else will post an answer for you.

GOOD LUCK!!!
