With Service Pack 2 of Windows 2000 Pro, if you right click the shortcut to the game and pick properties it should give you a compatability mode tab for any 9X OS compatability.

Yeah I had to do that to get SETI running under XP.

I really didn,t want to install xp. I stopped running seti. It was slowing down my folding.

Never used seti, but I've played a TON of games in XP and the only one I couldn't get to run was GTA2.
All others run flawlessly.

I would rather not install another OS just to play some old star wars games.

hmmm... well, WMP kinda sucks anyway. But I'd try others before saying it's the OS.

Oh, and it may have installed a prog that edits the sounds. Like the Sis7012 on ECS boards installs a little prog that's nothing but SFX, and it can do many differant types of fx and even the pitch. But I don't know if there is an effect set by default or not.

Winamp is about the simplest one to use, and it works very well.
MMJB on the other hand, takes a bit to load but other than that it's pretty good too and you can burn with it.

Well if they wont play on 2000 and your just looking for an OS to play the incompatible games on then i would say use 98se. But if your gong to use it allot and need allot of reliablity then use XP
