I'd assume because he already has a SCSI controller and hard drive(s), so he wants to take advantage of it's superior abilities.

Sorry, not sure where you could get one though. I think you could e-mail Pioneer about some though, and they might be able to help you out.

There are a few different models around, many that have launched in Europe.

Pioneer brands that end in S for example are SCSI. Toshiba makes most of the SCSI optical drives for IBM/HP but Panansonic make a few too.

These are all top brands available to be ordered most places. I'm not sure why you would have a difficult time finding one. Let us know.
