I just installed windows 2000 instead of Windows XP. In Windows XP my 15Gbs of files copied to a external hard drive ,a 7200 RPM Seagate in a external enclousure, i around 15 minutes. In Windows 2000 trying to get the files to copy back it will takes around 2-3 hours to copy it. The mobo is Abit NF7-S and the latest N-force chipset and video drivers. Is there anyway to increase USB performance.

Make sure you have the appropriate USB 2.0 drivers for your motherboard. I've never used 2000 but I'm sure one of the later SP's addressed this issue.

Sometimes with chipset drivers I have to manually install certain drivers. You might want to check and see it that's the case.
