I get the same thing with a high-speed USB2.0 camera. Anyone have an answer?

First, thanks for posting a thumbnail

There's a place in BIOS for setting the port compatibility to 1.1 or 1.1 and 2.0 isn't there? As well, what driver rev and SP are you guys using? Oh and are these the rear ports on the puter? if so which ones?

Cheers

Always been a thumbnail guy.

Checked bios and I am using 1.1 and 2.0. Tried all back usb ports and none are 2.0. Here's a ss.

I have the same issue with my Dlink USB WiFi device, only on my DFI mobo ... never happens on my laptop or any where else. Im not sure if i get the same error on my rear ports ... but my front expansion ports are the one that throw that error.

Well I know you need SP2 to support the USB 2.0 as it comes on the DFI are you on SP2? Another thing you can try it to delete the USB hardware ports in device manager and thereby force windows to redetect them (hopefully properly) on reboot.

I don't "think" it's a hardware error, the only other thing that can screw up USB is if the front panel cables have a pin reversed somwhere, this can cause the entire USB BUS to be a little unstable.

Let me know and I'll keep looking

what I want to know is, how did you install the OS ? Windows XP then SP2, or Windows XP with SP2 integrated ?

I have an experience like you, when I only install Windows XP pure first, then update to SP2, the USB only run at USB1.1 mode.

hope this help
*sorry for my grammar*

Good point, I installed XP then SP2 and mine works fine. I have also installed from slipstreamed versions of XP and win2K with sp4 with no problems.

You might want to try reapplying SP2...

In start>control panel>system>hardware>Device Manager, try uninstalling your USB hubs and the re-installing them. If you have SP2, it should autoload the drivers that it has for USB 2.0

I tried that and it didn't work. Sure would like to know why no 2.0. I may try dfi forum to see if they know. I do have sp2.

This is form Angry Games @ DFI Forums:

you do NOT need USB2.0 drivers if you are using Windows XP SP1 or later

do NOT install USB drivers if you ARE using SP1 or later.

deleting them in device manager and letting them redetect is a good workaround that many have found.

Tried it and it works.
