SAS is the next generation harddisk interface that combines benifits of both SATA and SCSI aspects into one. It uses a SATA type connector that takes advantage of dual porting.

It seems Maxtor has a 15kII SAS drive out w/ interface speeds up to 600mb/s and 16mb cache! may very well be the next fastest drive.

What do you guys think of the new SAS interface?

I think it's great step for workstations and small servers. costs are low, performance is decent. Maybe I can ditch these fibre channel drive setups...
