View Full Version : My first date with a mousepot!

Thanks to Jason for making such an affordable aluminum mousepot and
to OPB for supplying me with a rock solid mobo. FX-57 0528 GPMW

For some reason though I think my 32m times were a bit slow for the speeds
I reached. Perhaps more tweaking needed in 2003 Server. Any advice would
be much appreciated!

This was lots of fun and I guess I'm pretty happy for my first DI experience.

Suicide shot got me in the Top 10 of CPU-Z for FX-57

Well here are the goodies!

Looks good! I was hoping to have my first day with my Alumi mousepot today as well, but couldn't get ahold of some DI. I have to hold out til Monday now.

Nice results. Those results are pretty good for those speeds. Try twtr @ 1, 7ns async latency, and maybe give cas 1.5 a try?? Everyone says it doesnt work, but it may give better times.

Congrats on a very successful DI session, gocchin :toast:
Nice 32M  I always have a smile on my face whenever I see fast result :)
Don't forget to submit it to Holicho's 32M Ranking (http://holicho.lib.net/pi3355/pi3355.htm) ;)

Is that the best your LvLII can do in 32M? If it is, then I would love to add it to my thread too... :)

Jason, as you can see in that shot and as i have commented before, perhaps you can find a solution (or simply suggest to the user) to the interference of the insulation with the hold down equipment.
For me, ive torn out chunks of the insulation at those locations for clearance.

10-22-2005, 02:15 AM
this is what i mean Jason
The problem i found was that because of the thickness of the insulation supplied, you had to squeeze it in to be able to get access to the nut to turn it, which was a bit a of a pain in the ass - we ended up using pointy nose pliers.

Compare gocchin's to my torn out version:

i meant for adjustment of tension and removal (is not fun trying to remove a -66C tube with your hands without insulation on it still)

i would be glad to read your guide.
your predetermined spring tension caters perfectly for both IHS and bare die chips?

Nice results for first date gocchin, Alumnium containers look so much better than copper IMO. How did the aluminum mpot do compared to the thinwalled big copper 3inch I sent you? That would be very interesting to see if you ran them both with same hardware.
And who is that girl man? :)...I always wondered?

Thanks Vince. I actually just put in the 3 inch copper tube you gave me... interestingly it seems to hold temps lower. The lowest temps I saw (in the bios, no digital thermometer yet) was -39C for the alumi mousepot while the 3 inch you gave me is hitting -43C...

Sadly my FX-57 is not co-operating with me this morning... so I can't get off any good 32m runs with it. Though strangely I made a suicide shot at close to 3.9ghz with it

I'm dying to get a GPU container... I still love 3D benching, 32m takes too long ;).

Oh the posters are of a japanese idol nicknamed GOCCHIN :D

gocchin: very nice results! Look forward to seeing some 3d action. IHS on or off?

T_M: Used on mine w/ and w/o IHS I fully compressed then slide the insul down behind the springs. To get it off fill the tube a few times w/ hot water and once the inner layer thaws it will pull right off then you can easily remove the thumb screws. ;)

Copper will hold a lower base temp than aluminum at idle. The 3" copper is brazed right? That tube will show lower bios temps but under load it will spaz all over. The aluminum pot should hold load at about -60C and won't budge.

Nice results so far!

I ran a few and was in the low to mid 23 second range... I was trying to concentrate on 32m ;)

Ok...well 32M it's more difficult:)Congrats.
Just a question...how can I resolve the problem of contact between the foam and the container?
Look at this picture:

TKS and sorry for the OT.

ahhh finally I know who that girl is tario :).
That 3inch container has no mass at all...wow. Whats the comparison between the two cotnainers underload as far as stability and highest clocks is concerned? Have you run any benches with your fx57 and the thin walled copper one?

how much does something like that cost?

gocchin
10-22-2005, 11:09 AM
You guys seem definitely right... while in the bios the 3 inch temps are lower... I can't get as stable once I turn up the volts and the cpu is under load... I can't get as stable an OC as I could yesterday with the mousepot... I'm just goofing around now as I'm down to my last bit of DI :)

also the 3in will freezeup your board over in 2seconds, lol so bigger chance for condensation.

it once was the king daddy ice unit ;)
took a few WR's in its day :)

That be the one I sent him ;)

off topic question, what happens to solder at these low temps? i see everyone brazes them, but since pressures/tension arent really an issue, will solder hold at subzero?

I wouldn't say "everyone" brazes them... If you looked at the first post in this thread... I'm using a mousepot like many others which are "one piece" tubes... no worries about solder there... :)

lol, yeah and since the 3in units are taking alittle longer ATM due to the design being so complex, It wont be too long after the 3in that we see whats next.

These units where my last run with the current machineshop. Also just found out that they subcontracted some of my 3in units to an overseas manuf. The final result in the 3in units design quality in the final product is the main thing, but there lack of a constant ETA is stressful as i hate to delay customers that where expecting a unit as i was sure i was also on a given date. :(
Wow surprised they contracted em overseas. That wouldn't be by any chance team japan making your tubes would it lol. GL w/ getting a new vendor seems like this one has caused you more headaches but the tubes are still nice. ;)

It woud be nice too if Team Japan would offer the Arc press as an option along with it :slap:

Had my second date with the aluminum mousepot tonight. Last run while
running out of DI was the best. This chip seems to have room to go higher...

Here are the final results (20min 15.039), pretty good for an aluminum mousepot :) :

Nice times. Here are some timings u can try:
Tras: 3-0 Tref: 100 1.95us Trrd: 1 or 0
Those are some good timings. Hopefully with those u can get under 20min and probably under 22.5sec 1mb.
