Just like to gather input on what other people think are good distros. IMO, SuSe was best for me. And I absolutely hated Linspire. I want to look at Xandros and I have Mandrake 10.1 d/l'ed and looking for a home. But just state below which LINUX DISTRO you "fancy".

FreeBSD.

Actually I think most actual Linux distributions got worse in the last two years.

I use Gentoo. I liked Redhat back before it went commercial.

I would have to say ubuntu 5.10 for most everyday stuff, and then arch for my server or a minimal install. I have been wanting to try FreeBSD for a while now after 6.0 came out, but haven't gotten the chance.

If you have the skills to complie everything by urself Gentoo is the thing you want.
If you are a noob like me, Fedora Core 4 is quite nice, but you have to install all codecs by urself :/

There is no other OS apart from M$, if you want to play latest games..

well, pretty much any one you want, the can all do just about all of the same things

i dont game a whole lot on my gentoo boxen, but i do at an occasional lan, and everything runs smoothly
as of late, wine has been doing a great job with directx, so you shouldnt have too much trouble getting most windows games working
