Heya folks,
Which brand produces the most quiet sli certified PSU? My PCP&C 510-SLI is killing me!

The Seasonic S-12 600W is the quietest nVidia SLI Certified PSU that I know of &
they are very good PSU's, about $132. :toast:

I can't say enough about my Seasonic S-12 600W... I'm currently amassing funds to replace all my PSU's with S-12's, they are THAT quiet.

I just don't understand how crappy bling-bling PSU's (=Thermaltake :stick: ) are more popular than serious ones like Seasonic. Never heard of an unhappy Seasonic owner, or any more low noise PSU (exept fanless ones). Here's a nice S12 review (http://www.silentpcreview.com/Sections+index-req-printpage-artid-247.html).

www.silentpcreview.com is a good place to look for low noise components. When looking in the forums or reviews you'll see that Seasonic is unique among PSU's.

I'm using an enermax 565VE and it makes no sound whatsoever...never puts out heat either, with 2 7800GTX's, anda dualcore. Lots of molex connectors, and 2 sata lines(for 4 connectors). When i bench i swap that one out for an OCZ 520, but the OCZ does not have enough connectors if you run RAID 1+0 and SLI.

I have Enermax Coolergiant AG565 (535W) and it's very quiet. It's SLI compatibile, lots of molex conntectors,...And you can also adjust fan RPM

I also have an Enermax EG565P-VE and it is very quiet, and SLI certified. I can't hear it over the other components (and I picked the other components for silence too).

The SilenX 600 watter is a good choice as well.

I can't believe PC P&C 510 SLI is so noisy. I mean, it is more than acceptable levels. The noise coming from it easily supresses twin XFX's on SLI. It is definately not expected from a $200 psu. I wonder if replacing the fan might help?

Quiet!=high power
SLi power requirements==High Power
hence
SLi!=Quiet
Deal with the noise get PCP&C 510

The SilenX 600 watter is a good choice as well.

:nono: Boo! Hiss! SilenX has some dodgy business practices. One of their reps posed as a regular poster on Silent PC Review forums (actually, several posters) and made a lot of threads praising SilenX and bashing all competing products. They also falsify their dBA/CFM figures. Not trustworthy.

I can't believe PC P&C 510 SLI is so noisy.

That's the downside of their PSU's, they're definitely not the quietest.

An Enermax or a Seasonic is my recommendation. The Enermax I know is quiet, the Seasonic I have heard (no pun intended) is quiet.

I can't say enough great things about my Seasonic S12-600 It's very quiet and puts out good clean power. You can't go wrong with it.

Seasonics are good PSUs. However, their entire line has one major flaw: Their 3.3V/5V lines are significantly under powered. The Seasonic 600W SLI Certified one has less wattage(180W) to those two rails than the ocz modstream 450 (220W)which retails for 65. Not that I'm comparing the two, but just to give you an idea of how low it is.

How 'bout replacing PCP&C's fan with a quiet one. Has anyone tried this?

how loud is the powerstream 520 in comparison to an S12?

my fortron 530w is killing me, by far the loudest thing in my pc and it is screaming too, like it hurts my ears, i think its just getting hot because it cant keep up with the load...ive got every molex used.

anyways, it up between S12 600 and the OCZ PS520w, what do you think guys?

I want to buy one or three PSU`S: Enermax EG701AX-VH(W)SFMA, Tagan u-15 580, Seasonic S12 600... What is the best option? The negative point of Enermax and Seasonic is the no modular option...

How 'bout replacing PCP&C's fan with a quiet one. Has anyone tried this?

i am ready to do it, if you put a stick in the fan blades while the pcp&c is runnning you will see that 80% of your systems noise is coming from that delta fan, i think its rated for 52cfm at over 42db. i have an extra thermaltake silentcat which moves about 32cfm at 21db.

im not running sli so i figure the powersupply has some headroom. im going to run the fans standard 3pin out of the psu and connect straight to a molex with a converter so that it bypasses the psu adjustable fan speed and stays on all the time.

i have a fluke digital thermometer with flexable wire pickup. ill take inside psu temp readings at 100% cpu load with stock delta fan and with thermaltake, ill let you know if it stays at reasonable temp. it needs to stay under 50c to stay above 500watts

do you guys have quiet SLI cards to go with those PSUs? All of my SLI capable GPUs are noisy as all get out. My office is like a jet hangar :/

I would love to reduce the noise.

you could always watercool the cards

you could always watercool the cards

good point! I dont know why that option slipped my mind. I'll have to look into it. Water cooling strikes me as not quite so office-environment-friendly (I have 3 PCs and 5+ high end GPUs in very tight quarters), but I am pretty anxious to cut the noise down.

xfx cards are not so bad in terms of noise. I replaced one hs with NV silencer v.3 (couldn't do the second one because it interferes with sata connectors on AN8-premium) and it became even less noisy. Right know the noisiest component in my PC is the PSU. I'm going to replace the fan with a silent one but I don't wanna void the warranty. Maybe I'll sell this one to somebody doesn't care the noise as much as I do and get a Seasonic 600

PerkamBS, modern PC's use very little +3.3 or +5, they need lots of +12! :fact:

You can have quiet high end system. I had PCP&C 510 and what you have to do is to replace that extremely noisy fan with another slower/quiter fan plus you have to get another fan and place it in front of psu for air intake. It provided the same level of stability with a much lower noise level.

Hi.
I just wanted to fire my new opteron up and noticed that I need a 24pin psu.. :(
I need something not oo expensive now, because I didnt plan on upgrading the psu too. Is the OCZ PowerStream 420W any good? Or would you prefer a seasonic pus over the ocz? I read a while ago that ocz psus are quite good, but I dodnt really look into it. If it would be powerful enough to run 2x7800gts in sli wouldnt be bad. Any recommendations?

looks to me like its only a few amps lower on the 12v then the 520.... i wouldnt worry to much about it....

ocz has the best tech support ever....not sure about noise levels though.
