My motherboard is currently in RMA but I am in the market for a 16mb buffer hard drive for storage.
I would like to run my 2 36gb raptors in raid 0--anyone got any suggestions on stripe size or even how to get raid 0 to work on my SLI-DR because the driver disk I got from DFI doesn't work during Windows install.

So pretty much I need help setting up a raid 0 with 2 36gb raptors--stripe size suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
And I need shopping advice on a 16mb buffer hard driver 150mb or larger.

Thanks
The Dude

Would a hitachi sata II drive with 16mb buffer be faster than 2 36bg raptors in raid 0?

The hitachi's are very good if you're planning Raid0.
Another choice might be the Samsung 250GB, SP2504C SATA II drive. Very fast and pretty quiet.
Maxtor's are good too, but I don't like them because of their failure rate, and the annoying noise they make.

Stripe size of 16k and clustersize of 16k or 32k are about the fastest. If you plan on having large files on your HD, a bigger stripe/cluster size might perform better.

Thanks for the tips. I am mainly looking to get faster load times for windows and games. At first I wanted to use my 2 36gb raptors as my boot/program drives with a larger hard drive for storage/media. But if I can get a single SATA II drive to work faster not in raid as my boot/programs drive that would be great.

Here is what I want exactly:

250gb
SATA II
NCQ
7200rpm or greater
16mb buffer

Anyone know of a drive that fits these specs?
