Insulation : (listed by steps)

Liquid Electrical Tape around socket
- Liquid Electrical Tape will take approximately 20-30minutes to dry depending on how thick you apply on the motherboard. It will peel off easily from your motherboard so don't worry.

http://www.mini-itx.com.au/Images/DryIce/LET-Back.JPG

Neoprene Tape on Liquid Electrical Tape and gaps taped up with electrical tape and holes covered by Liquid Electrical Tape
- Next use some neoprene tape on the liquid electrical tape for extra insulation and for the extra height for better contact with the cylinder neoprene piece.
- Tape some neoprene on the back as well just in case.
- Cover the gaps with electrical tape

Test Mount

Dry Ice Run
- Best run for me is about 50ml of Acetone then some crushed ice followed by normal dry ice pieces.

32M

After Run
- What I do is i remove all cylinder neoprene and then pour out all dry ice from the container.
- After that I add water into the container to warm the container so that the bond between the container and processor will loosen and then give it a good twist and it will come off easily.

I have about half an eski of DI left.. will be doing more benching again tomorrow :toast:

2nd day :

first bad mount and ran out of ceramique.. tried AS5 and it didn't work well so had to cancel subsequent runs

had some dry ice left so i had some fun with them :p:

Nice 32M time, babyelf  Don't forget to submit it on Holicho's Ranking (http://holicho.lib.net/pi3355/pi3355.htm) ;)

Gotta love that liquid electrical tape, eh? :) That stuff is just a must-have for phase change and DI/LN2 runs...

Congrats on a successful session :toast:

thanks MM :)

nice runs and nice insulation

thanks :D

One Q before i start today tho.. how much Acetone is needed in the container?

After running for a while the temps went back up to 0c or so in bios so i took it apart and there's no condensation.. then i checked and realised there's no more acetone left..

Not sure about the chilly1 container but a shot glass works best. I've seen using a medicine cup filled to the top lately. I doubt thats enough for the chilly1 tube, though.

ic.. thanks for the tips.. going to start now.. will try pouring about 50ml first and see how the temps go

I think people use AS Ceramique for subzero benches, not AS5. Looks really good.
Some timings to try for SPI 1m:
Tref: either 4708 or 3684
tras: 3
TRC: 5
Async latency: 7ns
read preamble: 5.5 or 5ns

If I may ask a question how you were able to keep the Liquid electrical tape from seeping in to the socket and clogging it up?

babyelf
10-15-2005, 08:01 PM
just go slow.. apply a little at a time..

but a little bit under the socket will be alright..

i sealed the area between the area under the socket and the board so that if water ever forms it won't go under the socket..

but when you mean the socket you mean the top or under the socket?

^don.k's^
10-27-2005, 02:40 AM
didn't you use dielectric grease between the socket and the cpu? Isn't it needed for DI runs? only 24/7 vapo's?

Eldonko
10-27-2005, 01:44 PM
Grease is best for 24/7 phase set ups. You don't have dice set up long enough for the pins to corrode.

^don.k's^
10-27-2005, 02:42 PM
Thanks, i wasn't sure how it's used for, now i know the condensation under chip is 0( i thought the cold would freeze the condensation so not water ) so the grease is only to avoid corrosion, is it ok? I'm getting ready for my first DI run and don't wanna kill nothing obviusly... :stick: :p:

Very nice run babyelf, nice scores.

That insulation method looks great, can I just ask, did you use any dielectric grease in the socket in addition to the steps you showed?

marvt74
01-24-2006, 11:11 AM
Not sure if he did or not but di-electric isn't as needed for dry ice runs since it only lasts a few hours

^don.k's^
01-24-2006, 02:15 PM
I didn't used, and man, now i know i should have done it... My 146 got nearly black in the pins side, seems to be oxide or something, not sure if it was coz it got over 0ºc or only coz grease free, but i'm sure i will use the next times... 146 still running ok tho... :stick:
