trying to get some post stats up

i recently finished my HID retrofit for my 03 civic coupe. My retrofit consist of bmw z8 projectors (d2s clear purple valeos), tyc headlights, matsu:banana::banana::banana::banana:a ballast, and a wiring harness that lets me use my h1 highs, and my HID lows. Here are some pics.

They truly are far better.... not. What a silly statement. Some cars are better than others, regardless of manufacturer or point of origin. If your Civic was built in Alliston Ontario and engineered by the team there, what makes it Japanese? The stock listing in Tokyo? Pffft. These car makers are all global companies with crap coming from all over the place, I have no idea why people still define them along nationalistic lines. The engine might have been engineered by a team in Brazil and the braking system by someone in Italy for all we know.

Some cars are better than others, Honda has built some real lemons in their day and so has Toyota... so has every manufacturer for that matter. Like your car for what it is and what it does, the so called country of origin doesn't have much to do with it anymore. Unless of course..you want to believe it does...

Edit: Super nice job on the lights...

What does Ricing a civic have to do with what I think of Japanese cars?

One thing Mike, is the right headlight brighter than the left? Or is that just an illusion. Otherwise I like them.

It's really tough to get a headlight shot that shows them equally bright, because if they are aimed correctly, they converge slightly off centre to the car body...

Ahh, I see...

I can't wait to get my new lights in... but first I've got some body style to do with mine. >=)

I drive a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix. It has the 3800 V6 Block, and gets a Max 200HP, and 220ftlbs of Torque at 2800RPM.

I don't use a hid kit. Reasons are glare, uneven light dispersment, and sometimes a hidkit would melt the reflector.

I did a retrofit. Putting oem HID projectors into my civic headlights. Ive seen plenty of 05 civics w/ a retrofit.

$200 valeo projectors
$150 Matsu:banana::banana::banana::banana:a ballast
$50 d2s bulbs
$140 tyc headlights
$35-50 wiring (wires, relay, fuse, connectors)
________
$500-600

You can always find cheaper projectors. fresnel lens valeos are pretty cheap bosch single projectors etc.....

ummmmm...................depends on what u have and how much space you have. Mine was simple. The tyc headlights fit the projector almost perfectly. All i had to do was dremel a slightly bigger mounting hole on the projectors.

i remember my first retrofit. It was a pair of e46 bixenon projectors going into 03 oem housings. I bought the headlights for $50 on 7thgencivic.com forums and the e46 projectors for about......125? Its more work involved since the oems don't have mounting for the projectors. I dremeled a hole on the reflector to fit the projector. Used four screws to secure the projectors. the way i aimed the headlights was by stock adjustments.

here are pics of my old retrofit.

that was my first retrofit. It looked wierd bc it was just a projector attached to the reflector. I didn't shroud the projector or use a bezel. It would have looked a whole lot better if i did.

http://www.hidplanet.com/forums is where i got all my info. They have a subforum dedicated to teaching you the basics, how to mount projectors, aim them, color mod them, etc......
