i was wondering what are the main differences between NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra North Bridge chipset and the NVIDIA nForce4 SLI North Bridge chipset.

i was looking at the DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD motherboard

and the

DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD motherboard.

not much difference other than a few usb ports and the North Bridge chipset.

Thanks
jeremy

northbridge and chipsets are diffrent things.....since AMD boards dont have northbridges ill assume you mean chipset....they are both essentialy identical other then a few contacts not being bridged

yea sy. i pulled it right from newegg. didn't actually stop and think about the northbridges thing.

well then my next ? would be is it worth the extra $$ to get the DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD motherboard. its like 195 as were the DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD motherboard is only 119.00. i don't need all the usb ports and im not running sata or raid. well maybe raid.

thanks

sy for still asking ?'s but does that mean that you can not use SLI on the 119 one or its just not support by DFI

thanks

you need to mod the board on the Ultra D to make SLI work... there are mods listed all over, most are simple

also if you want the cheaper version SLI-DR get the UT SLI-DR, the UT is the model with a couple less usb ports and extras in the box. thats why the price difference is so great for those 2 boards the Ultra-D is the UT model and the SLI-DR is the non-UT model, i got my UT SLI-DR for $160

what he said.

ultra supports dual cards but not SLI, the SLi version obviously supports sli!
