Very Cool! Yeah, it’s nice to be able to fine tune the voltage. :)

I remember my first volt mod, I soldered a 1/4 20k fixed on the board. I had to change the voltage in the bios.

:P

now that i'm on the P4 "zone", i had a Abit TH7-2 (still have) and Asus P4S333, P4B266, P4S533, P4T-E (the one macci's got!) and finaly, my favourite of all, the P4T533-C!!! :P

Well like most I tried the rest now I stick with the BEST Abit, for a great stable clock at a fair price...and I have had the following makes MSI 266A pro,Epoxs all 266a revisions, soyodragon and Asus...they all did one thing well but it seems that abit does a lot of things a little better, with less BS...my 2cents worth...

I'm using an ECS K7S5A. It was very cheap ($60), but is not a very good board. Somewhat unstable, and lacking in overclock options. My brother has the same board and his is even more unstable.

We're both looking to upgrade soon. I want to run my new water cooling system for awhile so that if it's gonna ralph on my mobo, it takes out this ECS and not my new board.

Debating for the new board on either an Abit KX7 or a Gigabyte ('cause I like the blue--the KX7 is a better board).

I went for Epox.
Though I'm using an Abit now, the fact that you don't need a volt mod on the Epox's makes me prefer Epox.
I just had to try the KX7 tho :)
I ran an 8K7A+ before this KX7, and I sold with pain in the heart.

I do have to admit that this KX7 feels more stable then the Epox's I've had, even at high bus speeds (202 for instance :D )

i just got a KX7-333. having post problems with my 2200+ T-Bred.
i've had 6 mobo's (abit KT7-r, asus a7m, ecs k75sa, tyan tiger mp, 2 X Asus a7m-d, and an abit kx7-333) in the last year and a half, but i always end up back using the ASUS A7M mobo. rock solid board.

Voted for abit...

Asus i815 chipset board - pretty good for my p3 650e
Iwill KK266 - superb board - probably ranks #2 out of all ive owned. Wouldve given Iwill the award if it hadnt been for the XP333+...
8K7A - Crap - rmad doa
8k7a - crap - rmad
8k7a - very very good - kept until....
KG7 - superb board. No complaints.
Soltek SL75 DRV - great apart form kt266 chipset. 145 fsb limit.
8kha+ - crap - rmad doa
8kha+ - crap rmad doa
8kha+ crap - rmad after 1 week it blew up
Shuttle AK31 - good board in general - bad 3.3v line and a 166fsb bios limit which everyone seemed to hit.
XP333 - crap, VERY slow. RMAd under some BS excuse :p. Prevented Iwill getting my vote.
KR7A - superb board. loved it.
8K3A+ - crap, 2 channel audio not 6 as advertised. DOA - rmad
8K3A+ - crap - really slow. Lasted 2 weeks.
KR7A - loved it.
P4S333 - pretty good board. Wouldve been right up there if it hadnt been for the 150mhz stable limit of the chipset.
BD7-ii - not bad. Audio crapped out at anything other than 33mhz. only 2.7vddr.
IT7 - superb board - best ive owned tbh. Would put one in any system for anyone.

In rank order....

IT7
KK266
KR7a
Asus i815 (still cant remember what it was called....)
KG7
BD7-ii
AK31
SL75DRV
P4S333
8K7A (when i got a working one).
XP333R - at least it worked, unlike....
8KHA+ - never got a working one.
8K3A - worst board ive ever had without a doubt. Unstable, buggy, slow as feck and very poor quality.

Manufacturers in order....

Abit - never had a poor abit board. All are top quality, bios superb, stability superb.
Iwill - KK266 was an absolute stunner. Raised the grade for all manufacturers and gave abit a kick up the arse. XP333 pulls them down tho. For an overclockers board it was very very poor.
Asus - always superb quality and very fast and stable. Every board from asus seems to reach its chipset limit before any other parts do tho...
Shuttle - good board, bad bios and 3.3v line.
Soltek - good board, bad chipset.
Epox - never really done anything good since the 8K7A. Quality control is non existent. I think that slowing down their boards performance via bios just so people can get these ub3r clocks theyre trying to get a reputation for speaks volumes of them as a company. Id be happy if they went bust tomorrow. Swines.

EP-8KHA+ (kt266a)
EP-8K3A (kt333)
EP-8K3A+ (kt333)

Abit kr7a, then a kr7a-133 because I whined about the specs posted by the online retailer claiming that I was getting ata-133 on the kr7a last december. I also whined about my oem rad 8500, but I didnt score on that count. I planed to order from one company claiming retail cards but in the heat of the online ordering moment I choose a different outlet!

Was Abit, but now only Epox, never had any problems with them, set them correctly with right bios, and I said they are pretty much on top. Did try KD7 but I was realy unimpressed. I did like KX7 though ,but still stay with 8k3a, as it is the one of few good boards that actualy read intrernal diode from cpu. This is a must for my water block testing

Epox 8RDA+ in bench sys
Abit IT7 Max in general sys
Epox 8K5A2+ on shelf NIB from RMA after bios corruption

I like Epox and ABIT but lately it seems as if Epox has been giving me more bang for the buck and better oc's. Up till about a month ago I would have said Epox's quality was much better, I think it still might be, but have had 2 of their mobos tank after high fsb runs. Abit's I have kinda had bad luck with in the past. 2 KT7's and 2 KT7A boards died after short lives without even overclocking to any great degree.

EPoX 8K3A+ still my favorite, but now running an 8K9A2+ and it is quite nice. I like the selection of all multis without modding.

no such thing as a k5s5a, it's k7s5a, but yeah best board for the price for the last year and a half. #1 selling board for AMD too, not hard to see why.

Abit all the way, they are just a little too expensive when they first come out but the build quality is usually a cut above epox not to mention they take there time with the design.

Asus is hit or miss, they make amazing boards out of crappy chipsets like the the P4S333/533 then screw up standard chipsets and make terrible boards like the Asus A7V333. Hit or miss really.

Epox now for me. I bought the Chaintech Apogee (KT333) several months back, and while it was ok in some respects, I came to hate it and wish I had have gone for an Epox. Sold it just before Christmas and was looking around for an Abit board for my 1.8A I'd bought cheap from Trade Me (NZ's version of Ebay). The BE7's aren't in NZ yet, and the BD7-II's were out of stock, so I didn't get to go Abit like I wanted.

So, I saw the Epox 4PEA+ for sale day after Christmas, and thought hey, why not. Came here today and noticed that a lot of other people are liking it as much as me :D

So yeah, Epox for me, and I'm pondering getting an Epox N-Force board for my second machine :)

Love my Epox 8k3a. Only had it for a month now, but it is running strong. Waiting to see if a new kt400a comes out, or I may just try the 8rda.

1 x KR7A Raid ( still running strong )
1 x Iwill KK266 ( was doa , got it rmad ... to yet get another pos )
Just bad luck I guess on the Iwill's. It sits on my shelf collecting dustbunnys.
Also went through a couple gigabytes . Had fun with those boards also.

I voted for Asus although I currently have an Abit KR7A-Raid board. I'll never buy an Abit board again. POS...can't support Tbred 2400 and ups. My next board with be Asus Nforce 2.

8RDA is the best board I have ever used.

But for customer comps I almost always go with MSI cant beat the stability. Shuttle have served me well also, I have bought two AK32s because of the twin memory option.

I also own an Abit KG7 that is use by my wife and daughters. It has been a very good system as well. So, I am really comfortable with either Abit or EPoX, but I voted for EPoX with my money when I built my last system, and I have not been disappointed (except for my ignorance when it came to choosing a CPU that would be a good o/c candidate w/o having to unlock it):D
