Water cooling is as additive as it is  :D

I currently have 3x water cooled rigs

1. 2x DIY setups
- 1x AMD64 FX-57 + DFI NF4 SLI-DR (MCW6002 later change to swiftech G4 storm) my main gaming/ram testing rig and
- 1x Intel P4 3.4E 550 LGA775 + DFI 875P-T (cathar G4 Storm) which is my main work/file server rig

2. Plus corsair hydrocool 200 with AMD64 mounting bracket as well as a spare brand new corsair hydrocool EX200 which i plan to make use of. Both Hydrocool units are 1/4" ID outer tubing and does pretty well took my 3.2EE 109+W cpu to 4ghz easily (~198W heat) and my 3000+ venice and 3700+ san diego to 2800-2860mhz.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
What's planned:
A. If the plan goes ahead I will also get to play with P4 820D dual core LGA775/Asus P5WD2 Premium DDR2 setup soon to test DDR2 memory etc. I have at my disposal a spare cathar G4 storm, swiftech MCW6002-775 1/2" as well as a spare Bravo BA rad and I can canablise a MCP600 or MCP650 pump from my main gaming rig which runs 2 pumps in series.

B. I also will be trying my hand at first time GPU video card water cooling (never done this before scary heh) with my 2x BFG 7800GTX in SLI mode on DFI NF4 SLI-DR. I'll be using Koolance GPU waterblock to start with http://www.koolance.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=29_46&products_id=104 which will give me an option of 1/4" or 3/8" tubing usage. I want the GPU water cooling to be portable so I can transfer 1 or both BFG 7800GTX cards to another motherboard/system if needed.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Options:
1. Just build a new DIY setup out of spare parts = G4 Storm, MCP600 or MCP650, Bravo BA rad to cool P4 820D LGA775 cpu and use spare Corsair hydrocool unit with 1/4" to cool the 2x BFG 7800GTX SLI using 1/4" barbs on koolance GPU blocks. This would mean my GPU cooling would be portable as Hydrocool unit is an all in one external unit as it's more likely i'd move my video cards around than my motherboard/cpu:

But 2x BFG 7800GTX in SLI would use >200W heat which is the max rated spec for Corsair Hydrocool units so probably wouldn't provide adequate cooling for 2x BFG 7800GTXs :(

OR

2. Use the spare MCP600/650 pump with 1/2" to 3/8" adaptor + Bravo BA rad or get a new Radiical dual fan single pass rad with 3/8" barbs and use that to cool 2x BFG 7800GTX SLI with Koolance GPU blocks using 3/8" connectors. Then can use Koolance 1/4" to 3/8 or 1/2" compression/ adaptor on spare Hydrocool 200 unit and use G4 Storm with 3/8" barbs or MCW6002-775 with 1/2" to cool P4 820D LGA775 cpu.

OR

3. Use Hydrocool unit to cool only 1x BFG 7800GTX with Koolance block and use my other Hydrocool unit to cool the other BFG 7800GTX both with 1/4" ID tubing. Then use spare DIY parts to cool my 3rd AMD64 rig with G4 Storm ?

Last option seems most logical as in terms of portability of my BFG 7800GTX cards if i want to move one or both to separate rigs. It would be economical as there's no outlay of additional costs.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Q1. But never done GPU water cooling so if Hydrocool 200 can cool 3.2EE 109W cpu clocked at 4ghz (198W) load with just 1/4" ID tubing, would it be sufficient for the Hydrocool to cool 1x BFG 7800GTX clocked at around 575-590/1450 ?

Q2. Am I limiting GPU max ocs by alot with Hydrocool with 1/4" versus a DIY 3/8" or 1/2" setup ? Should I just fork out for 2x MCP350 and single fan/pass rad for each 7800GTX with 3/8" tubing heh ? Or would the gains be minimal ?

Any ideas or advice is very very much appreciated :D

thanks Vapor probably my first attempt will be with option #3 as it's pretty easy to do

that's just a lot of stuff to go through lol. you have too much stuff. when i read this post the first time i was like "what the hell is he asking?" lol. but yea, option 3 looks good. but P4s benefit more from xtreme cooling than AMDs generally.
