Is this PSU EG851AX-VH(W)FM (enermax 660 EPS, 4 12 v rail) to POWER this:
DFI NF4 SLI-D
evga 7800 gtx ko
AMD 4400 x2 (mild oc planned, up to 4800 or 5000 territory)
OCZ 2 gb 3200 EL PLAT ddr 400
areca 1220 pci express hardware raid
8 raptors 74 gb (raid 6 baybee yeah)
2 seagate 7200.8 400gb
audigy 2 gamer
intel pro 100 nic
and about 5 case /hdd fans plus
Big typhoon
If you compare this to the PC&C 850, they are similar specced. Not to far off from each other as far as I can tell.

Look gang, I know I havent posted in here in an age, I have read the PSU guides and used a watt calculator and tried to find the right psu without breaking myself. Will someone in the know tell me if this PSU will work for a system with this hardware..
Thanks gang

I would go with the PCP&C 850 watter though since it is 85% efficient and that will save you money in the long run. Not to mention that it can most certainly power the setup you have proposed.

Neither of those PSU's makes any sense as you will end up with two +12V rails to power one 100W CPU!

Try one of the "A" list SLI PSU's.

Enermax PSU's have not impressed me at all really. As for which PSU it depends on what you prefer. Daves "A" list is good except I don't like Enermax as I said above and I don't reccomend the OCZ Powerstream 600w. Also the OCZ Modstream is not good at all. In fact, there are no well designed modular PSU's. The closest to a well designed modular PSU is the Neopower, but its fan choice and mounting is very poor, which makes me not recommend it.

The Sparkle FSP550-60PLG is my pick for a PSU though. It is cheap and has a rating of +12v@. FSP is also known for routinely exceeding their rated specifications. At that price, it cannot be beat. Besides that an OCZ PowerStream 520W, PC P&C 510, and Seasonic S12-600 would all be good choices.

the pc power and cooling is aimed @ any kind of cpu.... you can check any review of it

for that amount of raptors and cpu and everything you got there i think a pc power and cooling is the est choice

there is nothing that compares to PCP&C's testing period..
I would trust a 850 PCP&C to out preform any sub $1,000 non-modular powersupply...

Using a 4-rail SSI PSU for a single CPU mobe, totally waste a +12V rail. :fact:

If you want a ton of useable +12V amperage, get the Zippy 700W with +12V@45A. :toast:

overkill in the PSU realm is always better than taking the easy road...

my vote goes to fortron 550W 60PLG w/ 36amp of 12V power and also has pots inside to adjust the rails.......

But then again the zippy 700W beast wouldnt hurt either.. :D
