Hi,
Firstly, as this is my first post, and im a new member, i would like to say Hello to everyone and congratulate you all on putting together an extremely good Site/Forum. You seem to have a real tight community here, and i hope to be part of it for many years to come! :)

Right, i was after peoples opinions on the Hiper Type R Modular Series PSU's. Are they any good? I really like the idea of the cable management system and think overall the PSU looks real good! Are they any better alternatives?

ocz 520w could be more useful..
unless you want the SLI no matter what.

I was looking at the OCZ, but i thought of getting a PSU thats SLI ready incase i should ever go Dual GPU. Is the Hiper best option for SLI?

1)silverstone 650 zeus $160
2)PC P&C 510 SLI $220
3)PC P&C 850 SSI $430

for the uk its is pretty much the best for the price as to get a better psu you need to spend alot more. ive got one powering a dual xeon which draws very heavily on the 12v line and ive noticed litlle to no droop.

Yes, the Hiper Type R 480W is good for non-SLI & the 580W is "ok" for SLI.

An excellent value in the UK/EU, where OCZ, Enermax, etc are so expensive. :toast:

Would it be worth spending the extra cash on a OCZ Modstream/Powerstream? Which would be suitable for SLI?

The hiper's modular system is beautiful. The connectors are reminiscent of a professional audio connector. The screw-on connector is a nice touch too. I've had a good deal of problems w/ the modular connectors falling out on other modular psus as that tight space is shared w/ optical drives, pump/res, tubing etc...

The ModStream 450W & 520W are NOT enough for highend SLI.
The PowerStream 520W & 600W are fine for SLI.

IMO the PowerStreams are the second best PC PSU's available,
second only to the PC P&C 510's.

OCZ PSU's are a GREAT VALUE in the US, they are way OVER-PRICED in the UK & EU.

I haven't heard much about the P&C PSU's, are they really that good? Does anyone have a link to a site for them or more info on them?
Thanks

powerstream 600w is no way good is having too muchs problemsThis has been hyped all out of proportation. Two problems.

(1) Like all very high powered ATX12V 2.xx, there are cross-loading issues,
if the system only needs a much less powerful PSU. Not enough +5V load.

(2) Overclocked P4's, especially the new dual cores & overclocked dual A64 CPU systems
often need more +12V amperage than is provided for in the ATX12V 2.xx specs.
These are best served by single rail EPS PSU's like the PC P&C 510, Zippy or Sparkle.

Above 510 SLI, there is 850 SSI and zippy700watt's..
Why don't you list what you have so people can help you calculate wattage and may be possible errors?
pc power and cooling 850SSI is very good..
I don't think hyper modules are certified by nVidia to be used on SLI.

Im building a new Rig, but i'am thinking along the lines of Abit AN8 SLi Fatal1ty/DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR/Asus A8N-SLi Premium (Can't decide which one yet) with a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ (Maybe Faster) and EVENTUALLY Dual 7800 GT's running SLI. I was also thinking of going Mach2/Vapochill at some point. I would need a really nice PSU for my new Rig to cope with all this and maybe more if i learn more about Cascade cooling. I'm not afraid to splash out alot of money on a PSU, as long as its the "right" one.

get 510 SLI.. 850 SSI is nice but somewhat troublesome due to its physical spec. 510 seems more than enough to power up 7800GT and a 3800 X2

I don't think hyper modules are certified by nVidia to be used on SLI.Neither the PC P&C 850SSI, nor the Zippy 700W EPS are designed for PC's,
they are designed for very highend workstations & low to midrange servers.

If you use the PC P&C 850SSI with a single CPU, you are completely wasting a +12V rail.

despite of wasting the extra rail.
850 does good job, I seen plenty people whose system crashed but after getting 850 SSI no more problems.

The PC P&C TC 510 SLI would be more than enough for the system you are planning. As you can see from my sig I am using that psu to power a dual core Intel system that is overclocked and is running 24/7 for D2OL. According to the psu calculators my system under 100% load is going to use upto 585 watts. One thing about the TC is the amount of sound the unit produces when it is stressed as I have it. It is the loudest computer in my lan room. And that includes another computer running a TC 510 Deluxe pushing a P4 3.4EE@3.7. But other than the noise it is a very reliable and stable power supply.
