Which ones better? I have a X850XT PE PCI-E

I wanted to get the Thermalright V1 but after reading this.

Heatsink Orientation issues:
V-1 cooler should always be placed with the stacked fins (stock fan) on top as in a standard ATX tower case. Opposite placement (such as in a Lian-Li PC-V1000/PC-V1200 case) may result in dysfunction of heatpipes and risk damaging the GPU

Which is my case I can't so what do you guys say? Zalman or VGA Silencer?

Had both on my old 9800Pro.

Gained 15MHz on the core with the VF700-Cu over the Silencer.

Variable fanspeed is also nice if you both bench, game and enjoy silence... :)

I have both.

I didn't like the Silencer at all. In 2D it is OK but in 3D mode it got pretty noisy. Not as noisy as the original cooling by far, but still noticable if you have a silent PC otherwise.

Also, the Silencer didn't only block one PCI slot, it even goes slightly into the second PCI slot so that most PCI cards are bent a little.

The VF700-Cu is pretty much perfect except that it doesn't automatically switch from high to low speed. I don't understand why Zalman doesn't just connect it to the original power connector.

The Zalman is heavy, though, I have a label on my PC that nobody must move it while it is upright. All that copper in there will rip the mainboard right off.

BECAUSE it is cheaper, and takes less space, and fits almost any card

The vf700cu is excellent. It brought my 6600gt temps down from 81c load to 49-50c load. Plus it comes with ramsinks  Zalman should have included the fanmate2 with it for the people that dont have a fan controller though.Ive heard alot of people complain about the silencer too.

I like my silencer. :)

Got one on my 6800Gt and load temps are around 60°-62°
Card is clocked @ 410-1100 and its dead silent (silencer rev.2 )
Maby the zalman would inprove my temps a little more but the silencer is ok for me.
