I am finding once i get my X2 clocked to 2.7ghz the machine will shutdown after about 2 hrs in prime ....no rounding errors or anything just a shutoff. i'm under good water and load temps are 38c so temps aint the problem and i've had this psu for 6 mths with no problems under my san diego 3700+ @ 2.85ghz....but i guess the x2's do draw a fair bit more current. it feels like a psu problem to me.

just been reading the psu roundup at toms where this psu has failed his tests under load, and according to my mbm reports the 3.3v rail has dipped as low as 1.3v under 2 x prime load just like the ripple errors that toms saw.

i've also read a couple of posts in here from ppl saying that there's been similar problems to what i am experiencing but i am finding it hard to find any other evidence apart from the psu roundup at toms.

so should i just ditch this psu and grab a strong single 12v railer?

i was looking at the pc p&c 510w but this is also dual railed.....any opinions?

Well if that isn't broken I don't know what is.

And yes, I like single-rail PSUs better, much better actually.

Anything over 520 watts is overkill most of the time, at least if you have a modern single-rail that distributes the power where you want. My powermeter leaves no illusions that even ninja-macho PCs don't come close to 400 watts before the PSU, not to mention on the output side.

although it seems like my problem is directly related to the 3.3v rail just like the test @ toms which failed, so maybe i should just forget about dissing dual rails.

everyone seems to rave about the pc p&c but loudness of the fan concerns me a little ....albeit i'll probably take performance over a bit of noise if it's only under load conditions.

barring the pc p&c i quite fancy the seasonic s12 600w ....i have a 430w model in my 2nd rig and they are just so queit and pretty good performer too.

i guess either will drive my x2 and 2x6800gt just nicely.

the new model of the pc power and cooling has a better fan monitoring thing check their site for futher info

if you make a search here you will some ppl having the same exact problem with that psu so you are not the only one the powerstream 600w has some problemns handling demanding systems...

so if you want a good psu go pc powe and cooling 510 or 810 or perhaps if you dont want to spend a lot of money go powerstream 520

1. Don't trust BIOS/software, test like this: :stick:
http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/showthread.php?t=137886

2. The PC P&C 510's are single rail rated at +12V@34A (38A peak). :fact:

3. Email Andy at OCZ with your concerns, OCZ PWNS customer service! :toast:

Yep the 600w have problems with no being able to handle oced dual core cpus, as said you'll want a psu with a single +12v rail.

i think this powerstream 600w is on the way out ...i know you can't totally rely on motherboard readings for accuracy but all of a sudden all 3 rails are showing massive nosedives under dual prime load ...it never did this before....it also coincides with stability problems i am having now too.

i'm all for the pc p&c 510 SLI model but i am wondering whether it has enough watts for my rig.

X2 @ 2.7ghz+
2x6800GT's @ 450/1200
3 hdd's/3 burners/9 fans (6 on rad)/pump/

according to the online wattage estimators i am pushing 600w but how realistic are these things???? it seems most ppl who have the 510 SLI model can throw anything at it no problems?

the rig in my sig is pushing 585 watts at 100% cpu and gpu usage and so far the 510 is handling it rather well. Just a litle on the noisy side since I run 4 D2OL clients 24/7.
My hardware is:
Pentium Extreme Edition dualcore at 3.7ghz @1.4v
2x512 megs 8000UL @ 2.1v
2x6800GT XFX @stock
P5WD2
3x raptors 2x36, 1x74gig
1x DVD r/rw pioneer
1x floppy
5x 120mm (3 are panaflo high cfm on a fan controller)
1x turtle beach sound card
1x MCP-655 waterpump.

They should get rid of this 2x/4x 12V rail design. It such a peice of :banana::banana::banana:.... :D I used the 2x12V design to power a prescott and i couldn't use 1.45V and higher because the psu would simply overloads and shuts down. Then plugs in my 460W 12V 32A and I could go all the way up to 1.6V but then the temperature shuts me down also.....lol :D

The Antec TruePower 550W EPS & the Sparkle 550W EPS both have +12V@36A.

The PC P&C 510W has +12V@34A (38A peak).

The Zippy is about $300 & the Sparkle (by Fortron FSP) is only about $90.

Good Luck,
