Hey... friend and myself are starting a computer building business but we need a logo. Neither one of us or any other people we have immediate contact with are very experienced in photoshop. I've decided to start this thread because it's time to get things rolling with our company.

The company's name is Skylance. You may use just the name, or you can use an emblem with the name, or you can just an "S" (what we are somewhat leaning towards), or whatever else your creative minds can think of! A motto is preferred, but not at all required. Motto's are cool, just nothing stupid. something original and has to do with Sky. However, if you have any other suggestions, be sure to include them. We'd love to see it!

Please don't add too fancy shading and texutres to the logo. By that I mean, the edges must be defined so that it can be etched on a clear side panel of a case. Run wild with the colors though, backgrounds what ever. If you use a background, post or send us a picture w/ it and w/o it.

The winner will be given a choice between 3 prizes.

yeah, give usa design direction - modern, sharp edges, curvy, metallic, what are your general likes or ideas?

We're not looking for too detailed things that have refelections and a lot of fading and shadowing. However a little bit of 3D shadowing is encouraged (such as on a ball).

We're looking for something with sharp edges and with rounded corners. Color is allowed. A symbol is also preferred.

the fading on the X in your sig trakslacker looks good.

But overall design has to still look good w/o color etched into a side panel.

I like the inside curves of the "S". However, somethimes 5-Clicks and I are not on the same page :)

That looks good thomas. :) The only reason I am not accepting it right here is because I'd like to see some more options from you. ;) :)

As a note to everyone on the technique - we are more in favor of the crescendo style rather than boxy styles.

I like your the first one the best so far thomas.

The following image is a bad representation of an idea we threw around for a while. sort of a point at the top of the curve down on the S. I dunno, see what you do w/ that.

Not sure what you mean with the "point".....
Anyway i was not too creative i know ... sure there can be done a lot more
but i so far just tryed to keep that logo rather simple without too many gimecs/effect etc. i mean i can make a flashy lighting exploding whatever logo
but i guess thats not what you want.

maybe someone else has ideas lets see.

i like the otherones too, but i would remove this light effect because it will
be hard to print it on your boxes or whatever because you will need more backround than just for the plain logo.

@ A scream - so you want a lind of dot or arrow in that marked part of the S

actually, that was my idea for the "zoom flare" effect. it's an effect for a website, but the actual non-transparent parts will be the actual logo.

hmmm... I like the lines of the that the last one has, but I'm not sure that the arrows are gunna work.

think of the rings around a planet. Not an above view, but a view that makes it an oval.

Try to have that influence the logo.

And we are looking to have this all wrapped up by the end of this week. If we don't see anything still, we'll consider an extension. However, it's not likely that we'll need one.

Put Skylance inside the rings. And have the rings go directly behind Skylance, and kind of disappear. Like what you see when you look at a saturn and such. Lemme see If I can fond a good pic.

Sorry to tell you guys but imo theese logos arent very good, you should go to graphic forums.

Whoever is hosting the contest should think aobut having all these lens flares in peoples pics to etch that will be very hard. having the lens flair and the whole planet Idea isn't very good.

You want a simple logo
The second one in the top four is the only one i would use as a logo. 3 circles and the text will be easy to remember but have good design qualities.

I used your idea of the lines
The planet is marz and I made a black fading effect so it matches with the logo
I have the original logo without marz, but I wanted to show the version with marz :D
