Hi,

what is your favourite American muscle car?
I'd have to go for a green 1971 Plymouth Barracuda coupé.

baby blue with white stripes, 1970 olds442, not cutlass but the actualy 442,

My dad had a 442 convertible. I don't remember the exact year, but I'm pretty sure it was in the 60's.
He sold it when my sister was born. Dumbest thing he ever did.

lol, yea, my dad moved up to dallas for a lil while, he used to live in the valley, so he left his car with his brother, well, the car got stolen off of their farm, and my dad's sister was called by the neighboor wondering who was driving it, so she and my dad's brother went out to check it out, well, they got passed by him on their way, so they went after him. well, cop pulled them over for some reason, guy was reprimanded cuz it wasnt his car, car got sent to impound, for some stupid ass reason, my dad never went to go pick it up, otherwise, he would prolly still have it today :( :slap:

Even though I'll never own one (even if I did win lotto, it's not that accomodating to people over 6') I'd have to say the 1967 cobra, although very few originals remain. I'm also partial to the 67 mustang fastback as well (wish my dad could've kept his)

hehe...hemi dart is badass...very rare, actually on of the few cars from a manufacturer with an official stamped notice saying the car is not street legal.

383 dodges were dogs, and by the time you got a hemi tuned up, that lil' ol chevy small block was half way down the 1/4 mile already... no doubt it's the 68 Z28 camaro, SS 302...1st year for the Z28 package, hence the 302, conservatively rated at 290 hp in its day, with a 4 on the floor, red exterior and black interior.

there are soo many badass bowties out there though. for any other manufacturer, i'm willing to bet there's a chevy musclecar that can take it.

Chargers are closest to my heart, but I would settle with any of those cars used back then.
If it hadn't been for one reason only, gas mileage and 6 USD / US gallon (in Sweden)

Some of these cars consumes 1 Gallon every 6.22 miles (or 10 KM)

The Chevy 454 were the worst.

1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429. (http://www.mustangandfords.com/featuredvehicles/5154/)
Shelby (http://www.uniqueperformance.com/shelbyhistory.aspx)

I still remember the thrill my friends 440 Six-pack -71 Charger SE send up through the spine, a long time ago.
Similar car but black and SE (Special Edition) not the RT (Road Track). There were some few SE/RT versions also. (http://www.mopars.org/profvol1.html)

I didn't sense that feeling again until i got the Hayabusa (http://users.chariot.net.au/~dredding/) in the summer of -99.

I believe they destroyed 3 Mustangs and 4 Chargers during the movie.
Steve were disappointed, and so am I because they destroyed them.

About that Eldorado I posted about earlier, I used to own a red one with destroyed shocks. It was alot of fun to take corners really fast because then you would bounce back and forth for like 5 minutes. It had something like 350HP, but for some reason it never perfomed that impressivly, probably because it weighed 4 tons.

I rode in a lowrider style Camaro Z28 once, it was alot of fun, the engine just sounds wonderful and never seems to want to stop, you would never hear that awful peaking out that you hear from pretty much every road car and the exhaust would allow you to hear every bang which just added to the impressive sound. I have no idea if it was a stock engine or not, probably not, but the idea of that Z28 is now in my head as a representive of all Z28s even though the only stock thing on it was probably the body.

I would have posted a little more yesterday, but I was tired.

Well, this is the last place that i would have ever thought i would post in. Normally i don't like American cars as a whole.

However, my roomate bought a 1984 Camaro Z28 this summer. Before you all jump on me and tell me it's a turd, which is normally is, it's had a lot of work done to it. It's got the 5.0Litre HO engine, he put a huge 4-Barrel carb on it. Dual ram-air intakes, headers, exhaust, it's been lowered, 17-inch rims, bigger brakes, shift kit. The thing is a rocket.

We were driving to the next town over the other day, to pick up a couple hard drives, and some kid in a modified 40th anniversary mustang pulled up next to us at a stop light, looks over, laughs, and starts to rev his engine. Well, maybe not needless to say, but once it turned green, it was just an ugly kill. It was hard to get a good launch, because of wheelspin, but the mustang still had no chance. I think we ruined this kid's week. He probably went home and beat his dog. I'll see if i can get some pictures of it up here when he gets back on monday.

Other than that, i think i would like an AMX Javelin.

09-03-2005, 04:32 PM
^Yeah, for that matter, Mercedes is making some pretty sweet muscle cars these days.

And noope, It's just a straight Z28. Irocs came later. They were called the Iroc-Z, because they essentially WERE the Z-28. They weren't as good usually though, because they were the early fuel-injected ones, and huge turds as well. The only Iroc that i would buy would be the Iroc-LE, which is very little known.

It came straight from factory stripped, without stereo or air conditioning, lowered, with caster plates, short throw gearbox, slight engine upgrades. It was built to go straight into a racing series, i forget which, but you can find them sometimes.

Oh, another muscle car i forgot: Shelby Omni GLHS Turbo.

Alot of people don't understand what a muscle car is...

i agree completely. the real musclecar era was from about 1964 with the introduction of the gto till about 1971 when the gov't started putting restrictions on engines.

Pfft... A real muscle car has more than a 350 in it.... Try a 467.

there are some 350 chevy small blocks from the 60's (package name doesn't come to mind right now) that were 360hp, and they were pretty fast, no doubt. remember, hemi's may have had lots of torque and were 'cool', but a flippin' 327/350hp small block camaro could most likely take it on the real streets and whatnot due to the fact that it takes a damn dodge engineer to tune a damn hemi....

one time in the 60's, my dad's best friend had a 1962 impala SS 409/425hp (badass engine i may add) and pulled up against a 1967 dodge challenger w/ a 383. needless to say, the impala 'granny car' boat smoked the charger. oh, did i mention the impala was pulling a boat, too? i got lots of stories to back up the fact that bowtie muscle is damn tough to top
