I've got a maze4+80wtec on my gf2u. I thought it would be a serious overkill but somehow the card doesn't seem to get verry cold. I know the contact is ok and the psu strong enough. Does anybody know how much heat a gf2u produces @ 340 core and 2.6v?

And how cold does the core get at idle / stock speeds?

Mine seemed nice and cool at 315 with a socket 7 HS and 80mm fan blowing over it so not to hot.

BTW where did you find a v-mod for one of these i've been looking but haven't been able to find one.

I found out the vgpu vmod myself. I'm also working on the vdd vmod. I'll post a thread with the mods+ measurement points when i'm done.

it seems that more volts make the core a lot hotter. I'll re-check the contact between the maze and the core.

The water is 26 Celcius. I don't know the core temps because my card (winfast gf2 ultra) doesn't have a temp sensor.

Don't you have any sensor you can mount in your cold plate?
As XS member you should really have one :)
In Belgium I bought a digital thermometer for 70€ sending incl. Maybe looks much but it's actually pretty cheap when you compare to others. It's capable to messure to -200°C, and has pt1000 sensor.

I found a multimeter with a sensor wich can go to -50 in the conrad for 15€. I'm prob gonna buy it.

If it works ill takeit for 20euro once you done if you dont want it.

For 15 its a bargain even if its not all that accurate, should still give you some idea where the problem lies.

Before you mounted the TEC to the card did you check that it got cold under no load?

I didn't check the tec, but i know it works. It's of a friend of mine who ran it on his x800xt.

But you dont know if your watercooling is keeping the hot side cool?
You should allways test unloaded for a little whyle IMO, just to be sure.

Is the water warm to touch?

Without any temperatures (even if they are only approximate) its difficult to tell you whats up?

The water is a bit over ambient. THe maze feels warm and the coldplate isn't verry cold. I think that the vmod adds a huge amount of exta watts. With the vmod @2.6v like i did with the tec on, the card feels verry hot on the back. @ 2.33v the card feels a bit warm. I think it's time for a more serious cooler.

I thought I wrote an update for this thread, maybe it was another.

I think you must be right that the GPU is producing more wattage than the TEC can reasonably take.

You can pretty easily swap it out for a 172watt if you can work out a way to get 17v to power it.

i've got a 12.5A 24v power suppy. Getting my hands on a cheap 172w tec is a bit more challenging. I myself was thinking of a vga waterchiller. My oncle has a spare refrigirator.

You can get a 172W 24v TEC @ www.xcsystems.nl for about 40e.

AFAIK the TEC is ok, idle temps on my X800XT where about -10c. Load around 25c. Card was unmodded and core clocks were about 560MHz

This was with the same setup as <Wouter> (he borrowed the complete set from me :p: ), Airplex EVO360 + Hydor L30 + Meanwell 100w 12v PSU + huge res.

The GF2 is probably a too big load for the 80W TEC @ 2.6vGPU

lol , i've used a 80W TEC with GeForce 6800GT just for fun :D ,load temps didnt drop much comparing to plain water cooling (+40 w/TEC , +46 w/plain water ) , may be GF2 produces lots of heat too and its too much for such a weak TEC ? :) And i tryed it with GF4 Ti4200 , and didnt get much extra mhz , just about + ~ 10MHz on core , and the card was realy cold when i touched it on the back side during benching . So may be those old cards just dont respond well to cooling ? :confused:

Well just for fun I through my 80 watt pelt on my GF2u and I ended up with a nice and cold card with the tec runing at 12v and the core at 315 so maybe you arent making good contact either with the pelt leads or you core.
