I'm going to be putting my watercooling setup back into my rig soon and i'm debating whether this time I should put my 9800 Pro into the loop or not. I don't want it adding tons of heat to the loop and I don't want to find out that I get a crap overclock on the core even on watercooling. Is it worth the extra time and money?

This is my current watercooling setup (not in use):

Swiftech MCW-6000 CPU Waterblock
Swiftech MCP350 Pump
Dangerden Round Reservior
Dangerden Double Heatercore + Acrylic Shroud w/ 2 120mm Fans
Swiftech HydrX Coolant
Tygon 3/8" Tubing

wow this is a simple "yes, put the 9800 pro in the loop" or "no, don't put the 9800 pro in the loop" question

please help me!....is spending $50 on a video block worth it?

I got giant gains in OC'ing with my maze4. On air I could maybe get 420 out of her. With water 500 was easy pickings.. Does that help you out? Plus it kills more fannage which I see as the "devil"

how much heat do you think it will dump into the loop though?

45-55 watts depending on OC

sell the card (+100 bux), dont buy a waterblock for it (+50 bux) = 150 bux

buy a 6600gt or 6800nu = 150 bux

bonus = no extra heatdump in ur loop! :)

well, the whole point of buying a vga block is to push my 9800 pro to the limit so i don't have to upgrade in another year

hey, maybe i only need memory heatsinks for my video card?

will 380/385 be a significant improvement over 380/340?

but the costs are approx the same...

honestly, now matter how high u overclock it...it will still just be a 9800 pro...

just save money and dont get a waterblock and apply the cost towards your next card

by the way, ramsinks alone dont do jack, you need really tall ramsinks with active cooling to make a difference, albeit a small one

if you really want to get the most out of ur card, i suggest volt modding it and either get an ati silencer or get a spare heatsink like a stock amd one and custom drill some holes in it to mount it on ur current 9800 pro.

while you're at it, check to see if u have a r360 core, if u do...then flash the bios to make it an xt (with half ram, but it'll be a small boost regardless)

i've done all this to my old 9800 pro eheh
