I was installing new CD-RW in my old AMD rig and I touched my video card - it was HOT!!!!

I get a flash light and look underneath - fan not moving!!!

HEll there is no dust on the fan so I have no idea how long it has ran without proper cooling! Where can I get a CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP replacment for it??I would drop into my water cooled rig but I have a GeF3 in there right now- why go backwards?

This is a rock solid card and safe to say it is ''burned in'' - but I don't want to use it again till I get proper cooling to it.

How cheap is cheap? lol

$1.99 http://www.svcompucycle.com/svcgc21.html
$4.99 http://www.svcompucycle.com/galgccoolcb.html
$9.99 http://www.svcompucycle.com/svcgolgat40.html
$18.00 http://www.1coolpc.com/jag.htm

(Edit) forgot this one:
$12.99 http://www.nexfan.com/29/212.htm?537 - nice thing about this one is that the fins hang over the mounting holes so you can use long bolts to mount it using the standard holes around the GPU. You lose 3 PCI slots tho...

They'll all need to be modded to fit onto the GF2, but will cool better than the so-called GPU coolers.

Freeze it for 20-30 minutes, then insert a screwdriver between the PCB and the HSF (use a thin piece of cardboard to protect the circuit board and pick a place without components) and twist.

Say a lil prayer first, hundreds have been removed this way but a few have passed on to that graphical heaven in da skies...

I found an old pentium1 hsf and I superglued the fan onto existing heat sink ... much taller fan = more cfm and hopefully little better cooling!! I will test later.

Haha, I did the same thing....except to a cpu. It was a 1900 xp and the system was running for prolly 5 minutes with no fan on the HS. Good thing I had auto 70c shutdown turned on :) Man, you could cook on that HS, but at least the heat was there and not my cpu.

btw...still works fine  :comp10:
