I was planning on getting a Tec set up soon, and this one from dangerden is the one I wanted, mainly cause I have done alot of orders with them in the last 2 months and they have always been top notch for me, getting me my orders in 2-3 days.

(probably cause I am only 1 state away, but what more can I ask?)

but the thing I am unclear on, is how it connects to it, a standard peltier I mean, cause I was just gonna do my full order there from them, neoprene, PSU, pelt, cold plate.

one other question, can you hook more then 1 peltier to a PSU?

Basically the PSU that I have has 5 connections on the back of it. Three for AC (+,-,g) and two for the outgoing. You simply hook up the positive and negative leads.

Just as XZGohan says, hook the leads up to the red and black terminals on the PSU. However, I have to say that I recommend swiftech TECs over DD TECs because the wires that swiftech uses are thicker. You'll realize once you get it running just how hot the wires on the DD TEC get.

How about the wires on the Swiftech MCW50-T waterblock? I'm getting one of these soon and I have a 550W PSU that I think may be able to handle it... Or should I get something like the meanwell power supply just for the TEC?

For this one, you would connect the red wire from the TEC to the yellow 12V wire on the PSU, and the black TEC wire to ground on the PSU (either black wire).

so you can adapt a TEC to a PSU? via what, a molex connection?

Im also planning on purchasing a tec within the next moth. will my 400 watt power supply be sufficient or should i pic up anotherone just for the tec?

you would definatly need a second PSU cause a average TEC uses around 15 amps, and even the 12 volt line barely has that sometimes, I am just asking cause I have 3 spare PSU's around here and wouldn't mind jimmy riggin one, even if it slightly underpowers the TEC till I can afford a real one.

my PSU specs state 12V and 5V have 36 amps max... is that enough?

for reference, from Becooling...

thier 220 watt TEC usesm 20 amps on a 12 volt line.
156 takes 18.5 amps.
85 watt takes 8 amps.

I am no expert, but even I know it's a bad idea to try and mix a TEC with the main lines of a standard PSU, cause then it takes aabout half the power it has just to power the PSU, but maybe the guys here can tell more.

I am just going by what I hear.

Well, I have a 550W PSU that's capable of doing 36Amps on the 5V and 12V lines... I'll be connecting an 80W TEC... I think it should be okay.
