while last weeks race was more of a cpu battle this week will be pretty much the counterpart with videocards standing out mostly.
so its time to give your vpu the spikes and get the last bit of performence out of it! :D

Good luck one and all... I think with this test I can finally pull away from the 9800's with my pukey x700pro....

well my previous best is 3113, so i think a reasonable target for me is 3250 :)

I will settle for nothing less than the #5 ORB score for X800XL cards. I'm on a mission. :p:

Well, I burned a MOSFET on my Abit IS7-E (dam Prescott) and have bought a IC7-MAX3 to replace it. If I need to bow out, then I will accept my punishment. However, the only real difference between the boards is the 875P vs the 865PE chipset. I have read that the 865PE started out as a 875P anyway and the IS7-E had the PAT hacked already. I've run a few benches and have seen no improvement over my IS7-E. Makes me wish I hadn't spent so much for the board, oh well. I'll submit results but if they are not allowed I'm ok with it.

naw, just keep at it, that's a fair swap in my opinion, final decision is the mods however....

seems like a lot of hardware is going to the computer warehouse in the sky during this competition......

I wrecked a coffee pot does that count? Seriously I lost a mobo but I buy everything in pairs, I always like to keep a new one on the shelf of anything I am currently using, makes life easy when you have a lot of systems going...like for like swaps are easiest. And I'm fat and lazy....

Yeah, it didn't like 1.625vcore on the motherboard I guess, even though CPU-z only had it at 1.55v. It only ran a few times at that voltage before the smoke got out. I even had the MOSFETS sinked and a fan right on them.

I like doing that too....I just can't afford it. I have backups of what I think will die the soonest...which is one reason why I have so much RAM for just one system (it's my only DDR system too). CPU is next (buying an Opty 144 S939), then graphics card (either 7600vanilla or R520 if it's good enough), then motherboard (DFI CF-DR). Eventually I'll have two systems....I'll call one my backup parts bin.

OK I'm a very happy camper, my x700 pro is sitting number 3 on the orb unmodded in this test already.

Normal that my 6600GT reported GPU temp is around 73C-83C while running 3DMarks   That's on water btw with AS3 and Dangerden Maze4GPU :flame: No wonder why the temp threshold in the nvidia panel is 125C :stick:

saaya

no thats not normal, sounds like bad contact? i got those temps with the stock heatsink on my 6600gt! did you vmod it? higher vgpu bios or anything?

and yerah, very sweet ugly!

what exactly is the problem slinky? it crashes right at the start?
tried patching it again to fix any issues? try to uninstall and reinstall it? same for dx9 maybe?

Can you run your system at stock speeds (cpu/gpu) or does it still crash?

Hmmmm, I temporary raised the GPU voltage to about 1.75V during 3D overclocked @640Mhz only. It seems to be the max it can do.
My temps as we speak:

Room temp : 25C
CPU: 33C load : <42C
PWMIC:36C
Chipset: 37C
HDD: 34C
GPU: 37C (No vmod atm) MaxT @500Mhz/1Ghz: 60c:mad: MaxT @587Mhz/1.17Ghz: 64C :nono:
GPU Ambient: 37C
I will run a 3D bench and update this thread with GPU max temp after it with no vmod. A 40C rise during 3D is kinda "unexpected" considering the cpu is only 9C hotter.

PS: Is Arctic Silver 3 degrading overtime in the tube? It was a leftover tube that I had since about 2 years maybe
I think I will re-mount the waterblock with AS Céramique instead :/

Is it only 2k05 or any 3D? which drivers/bios on motherboard and videocard drivers?

my x800 TEC bit the dust last week... broken wire... now i don't have time to replace it before this weeks results deadline :stick: maybe i'll rip off the insulation and give it a run on water, but at the moment it looks like i'm out - sorry guys :(
