I have 1 gb of ram, a couple of hard drives with different partitions.

First what size min and max should I use for 1 gb ram and where should I put it?

Second: I'm running ntfs on my main drive, should I be running fat32? What about running fat32 on another partition and putting that swap file on that?

Third: Will all this go away anyway once I start using raid?

Fourth. Just shear speed? Windows 2000 Professional or win XP home?

With a gig of Ram you really don't need the swap file, you can turn it off, but will get an occasional VM warning from your OS.

You will get VM warnings with the swap file all the time anyway while gaming because the OS was not prepared for 1 gig of RAM. It will tell you the swap file is not large enough, but it is, don't worry about it, its one of the pains of having mega RAM. You will get better performence by making the Max and Min size the same if you choose to use the swap file 1536mb.
