Now that i have a good job, and have some money to spend, im gonna upgrade my rig. So far my list is:
1)New PSU (mine sucks hard)
2)PC4400 Memory (gonna be corsair from newegg at $216 for a gig)
3)DDR Booster (for cleaner power and the ability to feed more than 2.8V thru this dang mobo w/o modding it)
4)Some blue led fans. (those damn orange ones that came with the case have gotta go)
So heres my problem. I am absolutly torn between the ModStream and Powerstream PSU's. I am looking at the 520W ones BTW. hes my current rig *WARNING, Hi RES PIC, 56k'ers beware! http://img208.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p13000014io.jpg As you can see by my case/radiator/led fan on the rad./vid card, i like the blue. So, i know the Modstream would look GREAT with this, especially with the minimal cables which are also pretty. BUT i also know that not only Is the Powerstream rated at 5 more Volts on the 12V, but
that supposedly Modular plugs make for a little current loss that is equal to adding 2 feet of cable. So, the scores and speeds listed in my sig were done with a piece of crap Thermaltake 480W with 18 measly friggin amps on the 12V :nono: :slapass: . So i figure that the with nearly twice the output, the powerstream would rock this prescotts world, but i HATE the green light, and mess of cables. (I already have that). So after all this crap, my question is do you think that 28A on the 12V for the Modstream should be sufficiant? I mean, if i can OC my rig as shown in my sig with a crap PSU with 18A, 28 should be great right? I am only runnin 1 HD, 2 optical drives, and the hardware listed in my sig. Any ModStream users feedback would be great. :toast:
*EDIT* I JUST found this: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=70775 that guy is usin one to power an fx57 based system thats very similar to mine spec wise i think, hes even got a cathode, which i heard draw lots o juice.
