I dont have much money, so this is the system I am looking at.

CPU: AMD 64 3000+ Venie (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103537)

MOBO: DFI NF4 Ultra-D (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813136152)

HD: My exhisting wd800JB

RAM: Ok After reading this (http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=28&threadid=1475190&enterthread=y)
when a user suggested it to me, is it really worth going after some oc ram vs. 1 gig with a divider? If its worth it, I can afford 512mb XBLK for tccd. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220032) Or the overly purchased 1 gb of corsair DDR 400 Value.

Video: I am looking at getting a 6200 to flash to a 6600. This sounded as it can hold for a while till I get ahold of a 7800gtx by the end of this year. So any input on which cards have a high flash rate would be nice =)

I will reuse my full tower Chieftech case.

Thanks for reading.

Great job on making the switch to amd, intel for now at least seems to have lost touch with their desktop cpus, they are only holding on by their laptop cpus.

For the ram matters what your are doing, for me I would go with 1gb since i run vmware and photoshop with dreamweaver at the same time. If you just game and chat etc 512 is enough.

Video card is fine, seeing as I run a geforce 2 mx400 still (am trying to upgrade to 6800LE)

I do use Photoshop and Dreamweaver for website work and I do game. Thanks for the input.

Can anyone talk to me on what kind of hit I will see from 512mb TCCD non to less of a divider than a gig or ram and a larger divider.

Go with 1GB of Value RAM. It will give you a much bigger performance boost over 512MB of "performance" RAM. I would not get Corsair VS though as it is known to have problems with the DFI board.

You could even get cheap UTT RAM such as the Mushkin that is ion the sticky. It is $120 for 1GB.

What sticky ?

Here (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=61554)

The Mushkin Enhanced Dual Pack 1GB PC-3200 (http://shop3.outpost.com/product/3602905?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG) is what I was refering too.

@Kool Drew, Thanks they will probably make thier way to my pc.

@leviathan18 Hehe Thanks. I just want something to last me ~2 years. A 2.7 ghz A64 and a 7800gtx ought to do that fine.

Thanks everyone. THings are being ordered this weekend.

1. Ewiz has OEM 3000+ for $120. I'd recommend that + the xp90 for $25 (dont forget a fan) from svc. ~$15 more after shipping, and stock cooler works just fine for venice. But with an xp90 cooler you can run a near silent fan and still get much better temps than with stock cooler.

2. Don't get me wrong, the DFI is a great board, but unless you know ram timings inside and out, I'd not buy it expecting to run your ram at it's maxx. It took me a week of tweaking in my spare time to finally get my UTT to run at 250 1t 2x512 DCDDR. Long story short, this board can't "auto" settings well at all, and you basically have to set every single ram timing (~20 of them) individually to get your rams max overclock... but if you're willing to do that, it's an easy way to get a great overclock without vmods (You will need SERIOUS airflow over the vdimm mosfet if you use the 5v feed though). Of course, as I said, if you've got the time and patience to really work with it, the DFI board would kick some ass.

3. Sounds fine

4. Definately get 1gig. 512meg sets will be worthless in another year. Even now it's hard to unload them. This is a sign that 1gig is very useful these days. I personally would recommend you spring for some decent tccd. In my opinion they are MUCH easier to work with than UTT on the DFI nf4.

5. Remember the 6200 aren't 100%. I bought 6, all had A2 cores, only 3 modded clean. One of those three spontaneously died running 3dmark 2k5 stock except for 8pipes open.

^ Thanks for the input. I think I am going to go with a X600 Pro. For only $85 it will run my mmo's and cs:s fine. About the ram timings, whould i just buy some zalman synks to put on the mosfets ? UTT is just so much cheaper than TCCD. The gig of Geil BH UTT for $120.00 seems very nice. I think it will be a learning experience so I will go with the DFI board. I would however would like more insight to the cooling needed for the mosfets.

Please show me where to get the XP-90 for $25

About the TCCD, how much for a 1gb ? Brands recommended ?
