Water-cooled SB61G w/ a miracle 2.8c @ 3.95ghz 1.6v. I am shocked at how happly this motherboard is at 282mhz. Been running it at 257mhz (3.6ghz) for over a year, but got the urge to get some real memory and just picked up a 1gb kit of OCZ Platinum Rev. 2 ($145 AR), and the machine loved it.

good to hear. U should get D2OL to make sure that it is stable. Does it have hyperthreading? I never thought that shuttle motherboards were good. Maybe I should get one.

I thought shuttles were overclocking mobos. I seem to remember using one of their mobos back when A64s were fresh.

Update, I just remembered the name, the AN50.

They also made some decent ones in the early Socket A days ... AK-35GTR for example, great mobo.

I always had great luck with Shuttles, but they have been sorta focussing elsewhere these days

I loved mines too. (SB75, SN45, SN95, SB77G5)

Ah, the infamous AN50R :) The mobo that would take your 3200+ Claw to the skies, but could kill it if you reset CMOS at the wrong time :)

...I am shocked at how happly this motherboard is at 271mhz...

Which divider are you using? Is 271MHz possible 1:1?

My highest overclock with SB61G2V3 on Air is 295MHz, but I can´t go over 263 1:1 with same Ram as you have. For higher CPU Clock I need to volt mod the shuttle or change to a watercooled setup.

Edit: Another CPU-z Screen with nearly 300MHz 5:4 on Air.

Running this OCZ at 1:1 ratio. killer memory.

Wow, 1:1 is really fast for this Shuttle. I have the same Ram only as 2x256MB Kit, but on my Shuttle there is no way over 263MHz 1:1 :(

I tried everything, vDimm Mod to give real 2.85V, lower Timings to 2.5-4-4-8 but nothing helps at all. The Ram is not the Problem, it can do 295MHz 1:1 on P4C800-E :D

i think there is still more headroom too.

If you want to OC a SFF, stick with Shuttle.

If you want to OC a SFF, stick with Shuttle.

proof it! many people also oc with aopens and other systems. shuttle has the best cooling, but if you replaye the standart-cooler you can use a cooler which is better than the shuttle ice-heatpipe.
another point to buy not a shuttle is the price. i bought my aopen for about 150€. a similar shuttle would have cost about 280€

I am aware that you can OC other SFF's, but in my experience I have acheived far greater FSB's with shuttle boards. The stock cooling is usually superior, the internal designs are better (allowing better mods) and their bios support is pretty good. I must admit that I have only tried about 6 non shuttles: Aopen and soltek models, but got way better clocks with the shuttles. My sb71g rocks!

just my 2c. Aopen is cheaper but the difference is not so big in Canada.

ok, so much barebones i didn't tested. i saw a loud amd-shuttle in a hardware-shop and then bought the aopen because it was really quite.
the internal design of shuttle is good, but with every new modell they get bigger and bigger :(
it would be nice, if you write about some barebones in the thread, i have linke in my signature.

Thats really nice :slobber:

Is the stock PSU installed? What about the Voltage, what did you set in Bios to get 1.6V? Highest Voltage I can get out of my Shuttle is 1.54V (bios Screen, not real measured) if I set it to 1.6V.

Or did you do any Voltmods?

Lesterp
07-31-2005, 08:40 PM
it is semi-permanent so I have it water cooled from the other side of the wall. PSU is a 420 Thermaltake. 1.625v in BIOS gives me 1.6v, but my voltage adjustments work all the way up past 1.7v. No voltmods other than Vmem on my 6800.

thats pretty insane for a shuttle.

being stuck to a wall and all :P (meant in a good way of cos) :toast:

Few years back, I had a Shuttle whacked out with a AMD XP 2100 Tbred @ 2350-2400, wire trick unlocked I might add. :toast:

It took me 2 years to figure uit how to hit a high fsb on this board. Before I had problems over 223mhz fsb and after I changed a sata option in the bios from "auto" to "disabled" I could finally hit 250mhz fsb. This cost me a lot of money. I bought some DDR500 Corsair memory for 390 euro about 1.5 years back and never had the chance to run it higher than 223mhz. When I sold it I got only 190 euro for it :(

The board is nice I think. The maximum fsb on this board is nu lower than any other 865 board, atleast that is if you don't use the onboard agp.

Little update from my Side. To reach more than 266MHz 1:1 on my Board I need to set Turbo mode from "Enabled" to "Auto"

Thank you, and now another pic that shows that Shuttle´s are very great overclocker :D

260MHz 2-2-2-5

http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=32025

Little Memtest Picture. Sure, it shows no stability, but is there anyone else who has a 270 2-2-2-5 pic from a shuttle? :p:

http://www.forumdeluxx.de/gallery/data/500/13647memtest270-2-2-2.JPG

Bought now another CPU with higher Multiplier. I wan´t to see 4G on my Shuttle. With 3.0 EE there is no way to get 4GHz, even on desktop Board with watercooling. But maybe a 3.0E E0 can do ;-)

i fell short of 4ghz by 40mhz. I can boot and run a handful of lite benchmarks at 4, and even some at 4.1, but no real stability above 3.95.
