i noticed quite a few people were interested in running pcmark or another more system performence related test, so here you go :toast:
with 2k1 beeing 5 years old now it has become a pretty good system performence bench and isnt nearly as vpu limited as most other videocard benches :)

if theres a 3d bench that likes a fast cpu and fast and low latency memory its 2k1, so tweak your memory and max out your cpus, this is the bench that will most benefit from a tweaked system and not only videocard :D

oh and btw, i made a collage for the grand prix :D
i wanted to have this done when the competition launched but was too busy... :/

Ok, I'll be the first to ask...FM approved drivers? Or are we treating this like AM3, where anything goes?

Also, is there going to be some kind of results thread? Something to compare scores without having to go through all the results in that weeks thread? Just wonderin'...Good Luck to everyone!

fm approved drivers only please :)

and yeah imma work out a ranking for each week and an overall ranking, if im too busy i will ask somebody else to help me or do it for me :)

you don't have any motherboard boxes in the collage! those are the most common cases I've seen on these forums :)

hahaha yeah, i thougt about using one as well, and a prommie case etc, but those are really hard to work with, hard to cut them out of a pic and paste em into the collage... i planned 30mins for it and ended up spending over an hour on it

if we are going to have another grand prix in 2006 im gonna ask lalpooo or malves who are photoshop masters :D

fm approved drivers only please :)

as i've said many times and no ones really answered, i cant use approved drivers and open the 8 pipes, as soon as its softmodded futuremark detects this somehow and they become not FM approved, if this is a big problem i'll pull out but if i do then theres gonna be one less in the GP and theres isnt exactly loads competing in the first place

Weird, 3Dmark01 won't let me publish my project, giving this reason:-
"This project can not be published due to detected CPU speed variation."

Any Ideas? I'm running the same FM Approved Drivers i ran for 03.

suggestions appreciated, as I know I can better this score, just a first untweaked run to set me a baseline for myself

I've only seen that once with an old version. I'm guessing you have the most up to date version? It happened when I adjusted my clock speed using clockgen instead of doing it in bios.

YEah, it the 01SE version with the patch applied.

NEver had a problem before, so kinda stumped.

Ah well, mabye it's a Format & Reinstall calling. Should bump my marks up anyway (All runs on all tracks so far are on ym everyday system, little with very little in the way of Tweaks)

I know of one tweak that just HAS to be done, just don't know if it works on AMD's also?

I need a replacement graphics card. As long as I get another 7800gtx it shouldn't matter which brand right?

2. What if a part of my system dies?
If your CPU/Mainboard/Videocard/Memory dies you can only replace it with the same piece of hardware or you get disqualified.
you could use hardware that performs better in the early benchmarks at first and then switch hardware that performs better in later benchmarks to reach a higher overall score.
Any other parts of Hardware like the PSU, the HDDs etc can get replaced with other brands and models wich isnt a problem since it doesnt have a direct impact on the systems performence.

Gryph
07-26-2005, 07:15 PM
I would think you could put in whatever 7800gtx you want since they are all the same right now except for the bios and art work.

Just curious, maybe it's my memory (the stuff in my head not on my mobo) going or my setup. But I barely got over 25K with my x700pro, Athlon at 2.7Ghz (RAM stuck at 195 while RMA in progress). I loaded a stripped down win2k image, about 6 processes running, ricky tweak, DX 8.1, basic driver (6497) priority set, card clocked at 505/520 (from 425/~434). Stock cooling.

I can barely beat most of the 9800's and I can't beat all of them. Have I gone totally insane? Or should I just expect a 9800 to be better at a DX8.1 test?

Magnj
07-27-2005, 12:19 PM
I think 9800's are best bang for buck 2k1 benchers. There's alot of 9800's close to my XL

if you where really good at soldering you could get that same chip off a site like www.mouser.com and solder it on.... but i doubt that would work tho... all you would need to know would be the part number. btw, do you think it was the volt mod?

Sorry to hear that Harleybro. I didnt see a volt mod done on that one. Do you think it fried on boot from a mod you have on it? I keep a few 120mm delta fans blowing on the voltage reg since that is by far a hottest part of those cards.

I HAVE to use unapproved FM drivers as if i dont i only have 4 pipelines.
Argh Saaya allow us softmodders plz it's the only way we can play, or are scores suck I get 17k i think without soft mod.

20k from a 9800se second in orb i think for a Axp on Xp with a 9800se not too bad :woot: :woot:

Nope those where the b4 pics lol don't think it was due to the mod but two that have looked at it said it must have been overvolted. Same settings I had run b4 though. I keep 1 120 on each side of the gpu block. 1 in bach just for ram. Another 2 next to mosfets on mobo and a final 120 on top of the ram so cooling wasn't the prob. lol

got a problem here folks. I did a pretty good run here for my rig and saved it as I was without internet at that moment. Now I can't seem to upload or open that save any more because I don't have a pro lisence it seems.......

What do I do now? :s

Could anyone with a pro upload it for me or something?

harleybro
07-31-2005, 07:05 AM
You shouldn't need a pro to upload unless maybe you have too many saved. You should be able to open whichever proggy it is like 2k1 then UL the score.

Jamo
07-31-2005, 07:13 AM
you can upload as many as you like to 01 without having a pro licence i'm sure of it cos i have about 50 odd projects saved

edit: anyone have nforce 3 raid drivers for win2k???? they dont seem to be anywhere  and my xp drivers dont work either

When open 2K01, Click on Online Services, Submit Saved Results, by default it should pop open a window where you'll see the test you saved.

It's not showing you a file? Is that where you're getting the error message? Have you tried searching for *.3dp files?

harleybro
07-31-2005, 03:38 PM
shinymod: you do know you don't need to run all the tests in any 3dmark test? All you do is when the final game test is finished hit esc while the next screen loads this should give you a score. Also figured I would post the best 01 order here if anyone wants to give it a go.
drag low
lobby low
car high
drag high
lobby high
nature
car low
Just select one test and run it. When it's done don't close the prog. close the first screen cancel the first test and choose the second. Once you run all you will get your score. Also you can keep running cl until you get your best score.

I'd rather just keep it going.... this is a very long contest anyway, no sense dragging it out. A lot of people seem to be having hardware problems and I don't see where a delay will help since they can't change hardware anyway. We have people now that are posting screenshots and scores that aren't even ran in the week for that bench. I think keeping your system running, and submitting scores like you are supposed to is part of the contest. :)

I'd rather just have a "short" week for the next bench, or run 2 in one week. I have a couple of new cpu's sitting here that I want to play with and am waiting on this to end so I can.. ;)

Hehehe, the way systems are dying in this contest we may only have one or two entries for the last week... :D

Wouldn't chilled air, say from an AC window unit, still be air cooled? Or if someone keeps a room very very cold, its still air cooling. I mean if this were Winter in the Northern Hemisphere, you could stick your rig outside and it would still be Air Cooled. I don't see that as changing a category as you are still using air to cool components.
