help need getting rid of a virus "rdriv.sys"

avast is detecting a trojan "rdriv.sys" but can't seem to get rid of it. I googled for the virus and found posts such as this http://forums.techguy.org/history/t-378367.html but their solution dont seem to do squat. Its getting rather frustrating as I can't do anything with my comp now as I can't get on the internet and every 10 seconds avast pops up telling me a virus was found. What should I do?

should I delete this? svchost tries to access the internet right before avast detects the virus (if I let it or not)

[edit] I had it fix that and it seems to have gotten rid of the virus (at least avast is not notifying me any more. my internet is still fubared tho

hmm I already tried that, it didnt work. reinstalled windows on an open partition I had. The virus just moved to it.... I've tried everything. I guess I will just have to reformat

find the path of the file.....boot from floppy and delete it....this way there are no dependancies on running threads and youll be able to delete it....as long as it hasent manifested itself in other files and or folders you should be fine

I tried that, some how it just creates a bunch of copies of itself. anyway I formatted my HD and it doesn't seem to be showing itself any more. for some reason I still can't get on the internet. I get an error that it could not renew the ip address when I repair the connection. I can't even access the router.

You could've just booted from a bootfloppy and removed it, or put the HDD in a second machine, but good you fixed it :)
