Its a replacement for my Dell mobo that busted here recently. First, I found a P4S8000 and was going to use that, but then began to read around and find out it used the crappy SIS chipset that didnt even support Dual channel and only had two ram slots. After much debating, I go back and cancel my order on newegg. I do more searching, then find a p4p8000(Something went here)-X. DId some searching on that, found out it was worse than what I previously had.

Then, I decided to look at Gigabyte's lineup. I skim through the referb section and see this one board.. The GA-8OPE1000. Not the Pro edition, mind you. It looked good from Giga's specs, alot better than that Asus POS but then I stumbled upon the PRO board of the previous edition for just $7 dollars more at $42. Mind you im in the Referb section. College life sucks.

I do some looking up on that and find that its actually better than the previous GA board. I snatched that sucker up and ordered it along with a Xion 400watt budget PSU, (Yeah, Im a cheap bastard) and a stick of TwinMOS 256 PC3200 and a Vantec cooling fan for a grand total of $117.69.

Anyway, Sorry for rambling. Is the board I got good?

Not sure on that board but I got nice results out of this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813138020) Biostar board i used to build a PC for my nephew. Clocked a P4 2.4 to 3GHz and a 9800 Pro w/1GB Val RAM and he hasn't made one complaint yet.

There's even one in the refurb section for 30bux also..

Please state your budget for the motherboard, and the plaform you're on (s478 ?? etc) And a recommendation can be made.
