400 / 1000 MHz with 20 pipes

Geforce 7800 GT will be indeed clocked at 400 MHz core and 1000 MHz memory and will feature 20 pipelines, no more no less. Memory of course has 256 bit interface resulting with total 32 GB/s of memory bandwidth. We are talking about 8 billion giga pixels a second fill rate capable card. It can calculate 700 million vertices a second.

A pic of the card and a 3dmark-03 score.

Inq > Fuad ofc. When will he ever stop cheering for ATI whenever GFX or nVidia comes up?
About 7800GT, since price seems human it isn't too much of a disappointment imo. Will be interesting seeing how it performs.

GFHardware > what a perfectly stupid resolution to bench on, if you necessarily have to go with 03. 05 1600x1200 at least, 4AA 8AF preferably, in order to make the actual card shine. very well, guess this result might be not breaking the nda.

$a1Ty > it's probably same core, so that should be the case. whether they're unlockable or not depends on how nvidia disabled them, not an impossibility though. even if they were, you actually might not want to unlock the "missing" quad, since chances are high it was binned a 6800GT though to a bad quad (or bad clocks ofc).

The situation with the "new" cores is the same as it was with NV45 and Radeons(9500/Pro). It only depends on your luck!

I think the latest 6800/6800LE/6800NU cards already came with a hardware pipeline lock, and no RivaTuner would help you..

Btw, is it possible to unlock cards while they are in SLI mode? I haven't tried do a single card unlock, but in SLI it is not possible to do anything in RivaTuner, at least with my ASUS EN6800 SLI setup...

My MSI 6800LE and my less than a month old Leadtek 6800NU are all fully unlockable too.

However, these are both AGP, while PCI-E 6800NU are not unlockable. Somehow, it seems nVidia didn't laser-cut or hardware mask the AGP version completely, which is the same core as 6800GT and 6800U AGP (NV40). While 6800 PCI-E is NV41 which natively only has 12 pipes activated, not sure whether there are 12 or 16 physically there, but if there are 16 a quad has been hardware masked (softmodding won't unlock it), and it is not based on the NV45 - the 6800GT/U PCI-E core. It was simply too expensive basing 6800NU on NV45, that's why they made the cheaper NV41 core. There was even talk of naming the NV41 6700 instead of 6800.

Hopefully this explains it.

Use RivaTuner

link to unlock 6800 agp?
1) Download, install and open up RivaTuner http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=163

2) Target adapter > Customize... > Low-level system settings > NVStrap driver

3) If you haven't already, install NVStrap driver (click Install)

4) Graphics processor configuration > check Allow enabling hardware masked units

5) Graphics processor configuration > Customize

6) Check the pixel units and vertex units you want activated. (To activate all, make sure all pixel units and vertex units are checked.)

7) OK > Apply > OK etc... basically Exit RivaTuner and restart your computer and that's it. Now is a good time to do some artifact checking/testing (that girl with shiny sword in 3dmark03 and nature in 05 are good, also try your favorite games etc). Just play around with it and it'll all be quite obvious and self-explanatory.

Hope this helps! Good luck! :toast:

Don't count on it being unlocked, sorta like how the X800nP, although it uses same PCB and everything, can't unlock to the full 16 pipes of the X800XL.

Probably, the first batch would be unlockable, so hurry up and get them then ;)

Yeah kinda pisses me off that you can't use temp monitoring function in SLI mode with RivaTuner. I asked the author and he told me that he has never owned an SLI rig which is why you see no support.
