Is it possible to build a desktop system that can run off a vehicle (an XTerra), that has a RAID 0 array and dual channel twin sticks of 2x512MB ram? What about the screen? What parts would be needed? How would I power it, since it's not using a normal ATX PSU?

buy a voodo laptop and get the 12volt charger :p there just as good or better then any desktop if your a good modder and dont mind risking a few thousand im sure you could fit it in the glove compartment and drill a few....alot of holes for fans on the front...bottom and top.....either tht or they sell a power converter at some marine stores that do DC to AC and can handle a pretty good load and then just build a nice PC in the glove compartment.....vent it well and find a nice place to screw down the monitor

lol that was actualy a pattent expected to go places before the laptop came out....that was what jolted major manufacturers to think up the "laptop" instead of the "shouldertop"

Small form factor systems for cars are a popular topic over at via arena forums, with tiny little motherboards references to LCD displays and the like.
