Damn I am going on holiday and getting a FX-55 so my HW will be changed in about 2weeks.

But just for the record. With 9800LE I had best expirience with XP SP2 overall and 4.12's, deffenately the best combo for that card.

4.12's I would say. With my 9600PRO and 9800LE that was the best ones for both.

I just ticked 8794 on a x700 pro. Is that normal in this class? that puts me around 15th overall in this card class regardless of CPU for this project so I'm assuming it's OK. Not much of a benchmarker here so bear with the stupid questions please :D

UGH, looks like a serious stability problem with the system. Try the last BIOS you were using first and see if it goes back to the way it was.

Aaaaaahhhh, my card is still in the mail! I really wanted to try out some VTT mods on this SLI-DR. Obviously I'm out if it's not here in 4 days.

Avoid the 5.6s for '01, 5.4s are good for that IIRC. I know 5.6s are some of the worst for it though.

yepp fm asked me to tell you guys to please only use approved drivers and in return they would support the grand prix and give us some prizes :)
so please only use approved drivers, if theres a driver thatsa isnt approved yetz and you want it approved let me know and i will ask futuremark to approve them asap if possible :)

the 5.6 cats are approved. That's what I'm using..... and I also believe the drivers ATI is currently distributing are worse than the 5.6 drivers.

Hmmm link works for me, even in the quote.
Just check www.futuremark.com and click on the ORB. Then on the Right top it says "FM Approved Drivers" and below that is "more information" click on that for approved drivers.

I've not heard of any particular benefits to running xp2 over xp1 regarding benchmarking. Just make sure you have the latest directx.

I was thinking XP and 5.6's with the nice GART drivers etc from tictac but don't know if XP pro is the best for 2003.

Only problem I've ever had with SP2 was when trying to install it on a computer with an old video card. Other than that it works just fine. Can't see any difference in performance compared to SP1.

I run xp pro w/ sp2 already in it. ;) As far as drivers go I have had best results in 03 using the 5.6's :)

I had the same problem with a new bios aswell.. it was terribly undervolting my CPU i think.. flashe back to my 3/10 and voila.. 100% stable at the exact same settings now.... even overclocks further :stick:

Unfortunately, watercooling gave me only 4mhz extra on the core.. but i can bench @ this speed over and over (instead of 1 off suicide runs with 15 degree ambients), it refuses to run any higher than 460mhz, regardless of voltage... i'll fiddle more, tweak, and run the cpu higher and submit my final result later. :toast:

The weekend will have to do for me to bench, otherways my first score will be a weak one just using an old XP instal......

I just fitted my watercooling a few days ago, so i can't take a picture of it. I have some oldies i'll try and dig up.

It's been living upright inside a case for the last year or two and it's nice n bent :toast:
Unfortunately, it's difficult to get the rig to boot with this video card, because if you slightly bump it, it crashes! I think it's the banana pcb playing up!

Nice to see there's others that will be running 9700s! Unfortunately i have lots of work and exams over the next few weeks... but clearly the xs.org grand prix is more important! I'll try my best to make time for one night of serious benching per week! :toast:

Argh i think i crushed the core of my 9700pro its not booting at all and i had just finished the volt mods, and they were working great but i was inspired by your volcano and tryed to fit a Aero 7 + heatsink and blower fan so i could up the volts more but it not working....

Never touched it, just was playing GTA:SA and started to artifact. Got worse and worse and then spread even to POST screen corruption. It was even at stock speeds. Last one I got was refurb, it was pre-dead for me. I dont know why it died, wasnt cooling though. Now it doesnt even load windows

I had an X800 XL that was able to beat charlies, I just didn't get a chance to run it in '03 because I needed to give it to someone who bought a X800 XL from newegg through me and the one from newegg came DOA. I needed to give them my really good X800 XL as a replacement.

I'm officially out too, the new X800 XL hasnn't come in from neweggs RMA yet.

ok, about 3 weeks ago I got a new to me 9800pro, it had a few stability issues, but nothing too serious and there was still many things I could try to get it run smoothly. This aslo gave me a chance to Vmod the crap out to my 9600XT and hopefully have a great showing in the grand prix. on the third day (or so) of testing I got a BSOD with the error Driver_IRQ_not_less_or_equal. then my computer restarted. OK, go back to cat 4.12's or some other drivers and problem will be solved right? no, it's still there....hmmmm, Well I'll go back to my 9600XT and research the problem. WRONG same problem. ok on the secondary rig, research shows that it is a memory problem, memtest shows one bad stick, ok, RMA it and run on the good stick right? nope, still there, BIOS flash? still there, ok reformat is needed. oh, yeah, WinXP/2k ISO's are on that computer and it's not stable enough to get them off. OK, so I got a buddy to send me his copy, but it won't be here till monday. And to top it all off, I swaped back to my 9600XT last night in the hopes that I could get one run off ans send it in to stay in the competition. well I broke off a cap off the 9800pro in the process and now 3d looks a kelidascope(sp) and the 9600XT randomly died (the cap nearest to the VGA output heats up to about 10,000 degrees and smells like burning).

so unless I can swap my entry to a 1.3 ghz celeron/512mb PC100/9600se I am out until further notice.

went to reinstall my XP, all of a sudden I can't select any partitions in the installer, I can't boot into windows no more, my old install btw (I just put in my XP CD and rebooted to start installing)

I'm having problems with 3Dmark03 recognizing my cpu speed. Anytime I get over 320fsb it reports the cpu speed wrong. The bench runs fine and I get a score and publish it, but it shows my speed as a lot slower than it is, the faster I run it the worse it is. At 320X14 is shows the correct speed, at 325X14 it shows around 3.2ghz, and at 330X14 is shows 1.5ghz :eek: Is anyone else having a problem like this, or can anyone help me figure it out???

Just a quick question for anyone that may know - I used the 77.72's off of Nvidias site, but they show up as not FM approved. Is there a different driver I should have used? Could it be the soft mod or possibly the time you got the drivers. I recently grabbed the 77.72 when they first were released but weren't WHQL yet. Each time I installed from that file I got the non whql message. Downloaded a newer copy and all is well with those.
