Hello folks.

After many hours spent with bios experiences and Asus suport mails I decided to ask some help to you guys ! :wave:

My problem is that my 2 Hitachi 80gb SATA II drives only work on Raid0 with the original bios that come in the board (0124) and with the one that comes in the suport CD (0204)!

With the new 0422 bios I get a BSOD during windows setup, after the part it says "Setup is starting Windows..." :

http://img121.echo.cx/img121/4594/240620059xi.th.jpg (http://img121.echo.cx/my.php?image=240620059xi.jpg)

( this BSOD in MS support page -> http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;316401 )

On one of the Asus suport responses they tried to "blame" the Hitachi drives because they don't come with SATAII native, and must be changed to SATAII using the Hitachi FTool. But I've tried with them @ SATAI and @ SATAII and the error is always the same.

One thing I've noticed after installed Win XP SP1 with the original bios @Raid0 and after changed the HD's to SATAII is that when seeing the SATA mode using Intel Matrix Manager it says "Generation 1" (SATAI) and not "Generation 2" (SATAII) !

After having all working ok with the original bios @ Raid0, if I flash the 0422 bios, windows won't pass the blue bar zone and gives me the same BSOD as when installing windows with 0422 on.

System spec:

- Asus P5WD2 Premium rev 1.03
- Intel P4 640
- OCZ PowerStream 520W
- Corsair XMS2-5400UL (2x512MB kit)
- 2 x Hitachis 80GB SATA II
- Plextor 716SA
- GeCube X800XL
- Windows XP

Some more information of my procedures :

- I'm with no overclock;
- I loaded the default settings in bios before flashing 0422;
- I flashed 0422 with afudos.exe that is available in your P5WD2 Premium download area : "afudos /iWD2P0422.ROM /pc"
- the sata cables are connected to the 2 red ICH7R sata connectors near SB chip;
- I'm using the ICH7R+RAID0 floppy driver that come in the support CD;
- I deleted the raid0 volume created when using the original bios and created another one using 0422.

Also tried the 0308 and the 0408 non-official bios and the same BSOD occours !

What can be wrong ? Bad moterboard, HD incompatibility or BIOS ?

Please help me ... I want bios 0422 because of the 800 mem speed option so that I can push my 5400UL sticks to the maximum.

If you need more details please ask !

Thanks
