Time has come to ditch my (2nd system (http://home.comcast.net/~dvrh10/S478.JPG)) S478, DDR and AGP system for an ASUS P5LD2 Deluxe (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813131539), DDR2 533 (which one?) and a PCI-Ex16 nVidia GeForce 6800 GT.
The problem I have is deciding which DDR2 should I get, there are 3 choices but one I know why it cost more than the other two. I'm leaning more towards either of these two:
1-GeIL DDR 2 Ultra Series (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820144522).
2-OCZ Gold Series (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227044).
This one is a more obvious one but still:
3- Patriot PDC21G4200+XBLK (http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=83711).
Choice 1: GEIL I'm considering it because I see a couple of fellas have had a good experience with it.
Choice 2: OCZ, well, I have OCZ DDR400 and it's been very stable and I like that I can overclock and still be under warranty as OCZ's site states it.
Choice 3: PDP, well it's CAS 3-2-2-4 compared to the 3-3-3-8 that the other two are but............
I'm not planninng on overclocking to no more than 4.0GHZ and I'm going to use the 540 that I have which is just sitting on my shelf, question is
Which of these 3 sets would be easier to work with? Which of these sets can easily help OC my 3.2 to 4.0 on air?
Anyone has had a personal experience with either of these 3? Would not be worth getting PDP's if the other two can do the same job as PDP's XBLK?
BTW, I'm ordering the ASUS mobo, DDR2 and PCI-Ex16 GeForce 6800 GT sometime in mid July or the end of July, so I have quite some time to decide based on your recommendations or experiences with DDR2.
No Corsair XMS DDR2 675 though, too expensive, from the $244 it was back in the beginning of June to the $300 current price tag.
