well, i got a free quantum fireball CX 3.5 that someone was throwing away in an old comp, i formated to erase their files (since they didnt :slapass: ) and i run some tests on it, and its averaging about 20mb/s tranfser, compared to my other drive thats about 60mb/s. my question is, would it make any perfomance difference to put the quantum on a 2nd channel and then put my pagefile on it? even though it is slower, would it still be better for the pagefile to have its own hdd and channel? anyone have any idea's? thanks!

Well, if you have plenty of Ram >= 1GB you need less Virtual Memory. And since your main HDD wouldnt be under stress because of the swapping if you use the 2nd one, I think it would be a bit smoother.

Would be interesting to know. I have an old drive like yours just sitting around.
If you have a spare channel, it would not hurt to try. You can alway set you pagefile back to you main drive if it does not work out.
