How safe is it to v-mod a geforce 3 and run it on air cooling? I guess it would probably be smarter to put it on my watercooling loop? Sorry so newb, but when you v-mod the card, how much added voltage are you giving it? The faq on modding the geforce 3 looks easy but I just wanted to know more info on the matter before I try it. Thanks

If you mod your card with the resistance values acording to the guide your GPU gets around 1.8v which I would say is far too much for normal air cooling. The stock gpu voltage on a GeForce3 classic is around 1.45v. I use a VR and set it to around 1.2K ohm which gives about 1.6v and doesnt produce nearly as much heat. My card hates anything more than 1.71v and will not run 3D at anything over about 260 on the core unless i back off on the voltage. But I am using only cold air so your results may differ with water. For the memory all u should really need is some bigger heatsinks.
