basically i didnt feel the need to buy another case..... and i know alot of people run computers without cases. now my questions are...

its fine to run the motherboard on top of the plastic that it was packaged in right?

to turn the computer on, you take a paper clip or something and touch 2 pins?

if by plastic you mean the static bag it comes in thats fine and to turn it on touch the two pins that you would normaly atatch the power button cord to:)

I don't know about using a paperclip. Sure it will work, but it would be safer to get a momentary switch or just use a molex plug and 2 wires.

I've got a couple of caseless folders in my basement and I use a small flat head screwdriver to power up with. On the mobo where you attach the case button terminals, you should be able to find the power switch + and ground. Just touch those two and off it goes. And you don't necessarily have to use the antistatic bag, Mine are laying across slats of wood. Just be carefull when attaching the pci cards, ram, etc.. that you don't flex the mobo too far or you crack the small lines.:)
