Just check out Spec.org for CPU results and FX-57 result has been posted. FX-57 scores 2261 in CFP2000 and 1929 in CINT2000. This are by far the best score for any processor out there.

FYI: SPEC is Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation: It consist of benchamarks that strectch the CPU to the limit. Most HPC(High performance Computing) use SPEC scores for deciding what type of Processor suits their application best.

Was pretty obvious it was the highest performance processor, but at least it's official. :)

Doesn't look like it but they had Xeon's.

There's no Dothan that can even come close to the FX-57, at stock speeds; the comparation would be pointless.

I WOULD run the benchmark, but they seem to think a bit too "fondly" of themsleves if you know what I mean $$

The Dothan is a MOBILE CPU, it is not optimized for default performance.
But take a Dothan 780 and run it on air at 3000mHz and take a FX57 on air at 3000mHz and the Dothan be KILLIN. Not in ALL apps, but certainly in gaming and benching :D

True that, but we're talking about stock CPU's; too bad Intel's not taking it to the desktop market though.

If wishes were fishes...........
I'm a CTO for a large corp. I choose a lot of big iron hardware and to be honest, I could care less about Spec. It's about how stable, how fast (on applications, not artificial benches) and how easy to maintain the platform is. You don't buy chips, you buy platforms.

yup, Ugly's right! If a corporation wants to buy some hardware - the first thing is - optimal performance at stock speeds in apps and stability! Imagine some serious vital for the company stuff running on an  overclocked Dothan with water cooling! That'd be dangerous in the first place. In the second place imagine the fun the systems administrators are going to have! And in the third place - it's just plain lame. IMO

a slight offtopic, but how good can an FX57 do on good air?

your chip is very lucky I must say :D

Ok, 3.2 that's like 400mhz overclock :)) not too good, but an FX-57 is already good enough at stock :) I'll see if I can get the CPU :)

:D SIG is 24/7 - only for running 3D'01 I have to slow down a bit to 13x273.

Will mod my Promy soon and hope for some 3.6 benchies then....... ;)

My chip is able to run above 3.6 - with a bit more of subzero temps....:

I'm not jealous, it's not in my character. I know I can't afford phase-change cooling and an FX-57 + 7800GTX and that sort of stuff, so I can only be happy for other people )

I have seen the pic in loads of topics and it just bores :)

I have a Dothan 2000 and it is surprisingly fast at Gaming though I admit it is no match for FX-57.Intel is going to release a Desktop Processor next year with the Centrino like Core .If they clock it at close to 4 GHZ it will be hard to beat and will be 0.65 nm size die.The Yonah is next Chipset which if Rumors are true will be faster than any Chipset yet made. When they do that it should give AMD some Competition .What is funny the Dothan has Pentium III Architecture in it.Maybe this will end the Life of Pentium 4 which was a good ideal but bad decisions were made like Rambus right out the gate .Rambus was too good of Memory for P4 it had more Bandwidth than P4 could handle. The P4 had such long pipelines that it took more L2 cache and a faster clock to where it would fill the Pipelines fast enough to keep up with the fsb, memory.

Intel will be back they have too much money plus research and developement

They have hired some of the best Computer Engineers in the World. The Isreal
Team is the best they have from what I hear.

Think -80°/-90° should be fine. But generally it's a pity - there are units doin' -150° and now it's good for nothin'............. :stick:

Hey Tom,
What is the stepping and week of your FX-57? I'me interested in colecting a database of FX-57 overclock on air. Thanks.
