Ok first thing is when I first got the card I took the heatsink off to try and put my asetek waterblock on but it did not fit(screws) so I put the factory heatsink back on. I ran a test right after in css and I was getting around 50 fps? ran the test again then half way through the test it snap out of it instantly and left me puzzled but did not think much of it.

Now I get my swiftech waterblock and put it on and it fits like a glove and everything goes smooth. Same thing except it will not snap out of it. 3dmark 05 and css and any other 3d applications are crippled by xtreme low fps. Temps are great 33 idle 35 load.
Any ideas as I am pretty dam puzzled right now?

running a fx55 @ 3.0 with this card.
is this the right spot for to post this.
thanks anyone

Wat brand of card is it? eVGA has a throttle set if you disconnect the fan.

I did plug the fan back in but still doing it? Do I need to do somthing to fix that?

Well with the fan unplugged it WILL reduce your frame rate. Although could you explain better what the other issue is?

ever since I just put my swiftech waterblock on the card the frames have dropped to near nothing. 1100 in 3dmark 05 ,42fps in css stress test. the temps are great and with rivatuner it did not get over 38c.
I did put the fan back on and has not fix the throttle that you said it might have.
thanks

So with the fan on and running, it still drops? And it worked fine before?

35 degree cold bug?
so I put the factory heatsink back on is it works fine again.
could my mounting of the waterblock been bad and if so why did the temps stay good if it was mounted bad?

You didnt do anything wrong. THere may be a cold bug and th eonly way to fix it is with using another BIOS.

if the temps drop below 35c it will react slow......cold bug. try one of the modified bios

I really want to know who the big brain at NV is that ok'ed their next gen high end video card to cold throttle at 35c? This is even worse than NV selling all those 6800 cards with broken on chip video processors- wait no it isn't.
I am no fanboy but this is the most stupid thing NV has done to themselves. You cannot run this card with watercooling looks like. Retarded.

eww 35C?

that's really high, I don't know why nvidia would do that and not fix it considering it was present in the nv40 as well (though I don't remember the temp)

I can understand much lower temps, but 35c is achievable on water and perhaps even air if the ambient is low enough

I have been on the ati side for awhile now and never even heard of this before? time to do some reading. Thought I read that painter had these watercooled? What do I have to swap my water chiller for a water heater?

swiftech fit perfect on the 7800 and 33c made me grin until I started benching. 1150 in 05

Try to find one of the new bios that fixes it. Stupid Nvidia and their intentional coldbug :nono:.

The new bios is not available yet.

The bug is not fixed at 35c, one of my cards did not like going below 39c

There is a modified bios available HERE (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=67249). It does fix the cold bug and also raises the default clocks. I had to try it since one of my cards was throttling at 40c and I couldnt get any good clocks set with the card when it was cold.
